Lucked into being in Gyeongju on Buddha's Birthday (May 15, a national holiday). Can't rave enough about Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple. It was especially zen with all the fluttering flags and lanterns carrying personal wishes.
Viewing burial mounds in the city, from inside and outside, was also a great introduction to the Silla Dynasty.

We visited Gyeongju for one night to see the local sights and it was exactly what we needed. The room has its own bathroom and it is a hanok type building with beautiful garden with flowers. Everything is about 30 minutes by foot. Close to convinient stories and restaurants. The old couple was friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time.

Pretty town and worth seeing with wonderful restaurants but the burial mounds visit is a must. Very well organized with information centres.
The Hanok village is also interesting and has great restaurants.

I wish I had stayed at least another day to take in everything Gyeongju has to offer. Going with a guide who drove us around and knew all the ins and outs of restaurants and other places to visit was key to making our short visit so memorable.

In total spent around four days in Gyeongju and the surrounding area. The main part of the city is pretty typical of Korean cities. The main attractions are to the south. It is steeped in history and a great place to learn about Korean heritage. Tombs of former kings, partially recreated palaces, stunning bridges, fields of colourful flowers and some streets with fantastic restaurants and shops. Much of the historic area is laid out in beautifully maintained parks and gardens. A highlight and one of our favourite places on our 2.5 weeks trip to Korea. There are two national parks near by offering good walking opportunities. We undertook one short walk to Chilbul-am temple which was incredibly scenic.

Tourist area. But it was awesome. Lots of local tourists too so you know it's a good place to go to. Good food too. If you love history, you will love this place because you get to learn all about Korean history and the old kingdom.
AHA Stay is perfectly located just a few blocks away from the Daereungwon Tomb Complex & Cheonmachong. About 15 minutes walking from the intercity bus station, it's located within walking distance to many restaurants and cafes. There are multiple bus lines nearby that you can catch to the famous historical sites - a convenient location for anyone who wants to explore Gyeongju on their own.
The room is spacious and perfectly clean. The staff are friendly and breakfast is simple (toast, jam, fruit, coffee). WiFi works well.
Amazing hanok stay in the heart of Gyeongju, but on a side street, so it was peaceful and quiet. The bed is of course a futon, don't expect a normal bed, because it is a traditional house. The owners are extremely kind, they kept our luggage for the night when we stayed at a temple and afterwards on the last day for the whole afternoon after the check out. There are only a few rooms and this is what makes it special. We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely recommend it to everyone! It is a must do when in Gyeongju!
This hotel has hostel vibes with its lounge area, provided simple breakfast, and free washing machine. We had a double and a triple room, and while both were on the small side, but they were well-appointed with everything we needed for a great sleep. It could be a romantic choice for couples but they welcome families like ours and groups of friends, too. We appreciated the travel maps provided and advice for getting around Gyeongju. It was walking distance to the tombs and bus stops as well as restaurants and shops.
The hosts, Junny and her husband, are amazing. Junny is very available and takes good care of you. I was sick during my stay (bad case of the flu) and since I don’t speak Korean she accompanied me to the doctor and helped me get the meds that were prescribed to me. (Thanks again Junny 💜)
The main areas and my room were perfectly clean and I liked the atmosphere of the guesthouse. I would definitely stay there again.
It’s also well connected to the different sights in Gyeongju and to the bus stops for Bulguksa.
The room was very clean and had lots of space. The lobby area has a kitchen for guests where you can get water, do some laundry, cook/store food.
The receptionist was kind and welcoming.
The hotel is close to the bus terminal, so if you arrive by bus you can walk to the hotel. There's also a bus stop that can get you to Gyeongju Station within 30 minutes. The hotel is within walking distance to some of the main attractions (15-20 minutes). Overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend!
The Guesthouse is perfectly located by the bus station and the Hanok village. There are plenty of restaurants and facilities around the area. The accommodation itself is cute, well maintained and comfortable.
The stuff was kind and lovely. The owner makes the breakfast himself and I go the opportunity to taste some Korean food!
Instructions are handed in when you checked in, so everything is clear and straightforward. The dog / recepcionist doggie is just soo cute! Lol
The location. It is close from main attraction in Gyeongju such as Hwangnidan-gil and Daereungwon.
I also really love the blanket. It is so soft and smooth that makes me want to keep bundled up. The bed and pillow also really comfortable and clean.
I also like the fact they provide the small night lamp & charging port near the bed.
Amenities quite complete. They provide tooth paste but no tooth brush. Enough roll tissue and towels + a lot of clothes hanger.
.We absolutely loved everything about Tiamo, from the beautiful surroundings to the amazing hospitality of the Ower Mr Kim...Nothing was to much trouble for him & even give us lifts & dropped us back to the train station which was well out of he's way..Its those little things that make Tiamo sp special... The accommodation is beautiful & has everything one needs & so close to the bus stop...will definitely stay here again on my next visit to South Korea ❤
Sooki and her son were exceptional hosts and made our trip to Gyeongju incredibly seamless! Sooki picked us up from the station and drove us to her lovely space where she made sure we were comfortable and able to check-in through the lockbox. In the morning, they brought down a light breakfast as well as helped with dropoff back at the station as well. I would recommend this stay to any friends visiting Gyeongju!
The location of the property is close to the lively area of Gyeongju, all restaurants, shops and the historical landmarks of course. The garden is beautiful and we enjoyed the quietness of it at the end of the day. The breakfast met our expectation. It was sufficient and tasty. The hosts are extremely helpful and kind. If you are searching for a quiet and relaxing place in Gyengju, look no further.
This is a family trip to Gyeongju for the first time. Owner greeting us in front of the main entrance when we are arrived. Good location. The bed is comfortable. Heater floor mat. Provided good breakfast. The deco of the hotel and dining area is superb! Owner is very friendly, speak very well English. Will come and stay again with this hotel. Clean, very spacious rooms and bathroom (although it would benefit from some place to put your clothes). The staff are kind and professional, solve problems without any complaints. They do not speak English much, though. The location is very convenient, within walking distance to many attractions of Gyeongju and a bus stop with many useful bus connections. They offer free simple breakfast.
