The staff were unquestionably the highlight of the Medina. Amazingly helpful, warm, nice. We also loved the options for pools. The rooms were fantastic, though AC in all rooms would be even better.

Watamu has a charm to it. Very relaxed but amazing places to discover The beach is beautiful! Catching sunsets is not a problem. so many places to catch some of the most glorious sunsets you will ever see.
Within the town centre is a small eatery called The Place! Great chef & delicious meals.

Interesting town, much to see, like the TAAF Snake Farm, where I was for a course, the Gede ruins and much more. Good infrastructure, which is not in all coastal towns in Kenya the case. The beach in front of Papa Remo is alone worth going there!

Watamu is beautiful , but unfortunately too touristical for me. Heavily overpriced for Kenya. People who like bust tourist spots will like it though... traditionally many Italians, if you want to avoid those, Watamu is also not your choice

Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal.
Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal. Large Italian population and visitors, so most hotels and resteuraunts are italian owned. Best place to eat and the most jawdropping view is from Ocean Sports.

Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches.
Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches. Restaurants are galore and most really good, although mostly expensive. Among the coastal towns I visited in Kenya and Tanzania, I have come back to Watamu most often. The water is crystal clear, the beach white and not overrun, and the area offers enough activities to not get boring.
From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality at this property were second to none. The location is superb, conveniently nestled in a serene spot that’s easily accessible. Giuseppe, our host, was outstanding, making sure we felt right at home. One of the highlights of our stay was the culinary delight prepared by Rukia, Giuseppe’s wife. As a resident of Kenya, I can confidently say it was some of the best food I’ve had in the country. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuinely delightful experience.
We loved staying at Mangrove View, by far the friendliest and most welcoming place since we've been in Kenya for over 8 weeks. The breakfast is delicious and the chef can also provide dinner for a very reasonable price, which is super delicious and highly reccomended. The owner Reimond is very friendly and has lots of local tips and can help you organize tours, transport and more. The communcal area is very social and it's easy to meet fellow travellers here :) Highly reccomend this place to anyone staying in Watamu!
This is probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in in my life.
- the location is perfect, on the sand beach of Watamu, far enough from the core city so very calm
- the staff is extremely competent and agile. For example, they organized an emergency PCR test taken on site in less than one hour.
- the best dinner I had in Africa. The pan fried salmon was worthy of a Michelin restaurant
- the hotel itself, its pools, restaurant, rooms and decoration are done in the finest way. It’s tasteful under every aspect.
A beautiful, serene space on the creek - which is more like a very big river. Views of the mangrove forest and surrounded by peace and quiet. The restaurant served delightful food from a small menu, and great cocktails. Friendly and accommodating staff. We loved swimming in the creek and renting the stand up paddle boards. Great place to read, relax and decompress. You can take a boat over to Watamu town which we did once for an excursion, but it was so peaceful we just stayed at the hotel the rest of the time!
We had an amazing stay at Beba’s beach house and particularly enjoyed the beauty of the house, the availability of the host, the cosiness of the room and the balcony, the generous and tasty breakfast with ocean view, the two friendly dogs and the access to the private beach of course. Beba helped us organizing a blue safari to see dolphins and to do snorkeling, which was amazing! You can also have lunch and diner at the property and the food was good! Thank you Beba, looking forward to coming back.
It was our best stay in Kenya. If you prefer some calm place instead of overcrowded Watamu, Jacaranda bay is a great choice. In pole pole you can really slow down and just enjoy the peace around. Accomodation is close to the beach, everything very clean and the staff is extraordinarily kind, especially Safari, who took a great care of us. There is also possibility to manage some trips for a better deal than anyone else offered us.
For the price we couldn't choose any better accomodation.
This resort was a hidden gem. Through Booking.com, the rates were exceptional. The resort is located directly on one of Watamus' most beautiful beaches. The staff were both friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were unusually large by resort standards. The breakfast was delicious with flexible hours. The GM was always on hand to make sure were had everything we needed. We will make this one of our top choices when returning to Kenyas' coast.
This is just an amazing little hotel just of the beaten track and the major hotels with very easy access to the beach ( walking distance ) . The staff Justin ( Owner ) and Fransis (Barmen) went out of their way to always help. Fransis even made me and my wife a plate of fries 12:00 at night after the kitchen were closed. We returned very late after we went back to Mombasa to fetch our luggage that were left behind in Addis Ababa.
An exceptional boutique hotel with massive air conditioned rooms, huge comfortable
king bed, great showers, 2 salt water pools, good food and very few people. I loved my stay here and extended for 2 additional nights to soak it all in. Perched on a sea cliff top, there's a commanding view of the beautiful bay And a secret tunnel to directly access the tide pools and sandy beaches at low tide.
The place was awesome. I was working while I was there and it was very cozy, comfortable and the staff was so accommodating.
Internet was very good, was working back in the states and had no issues.
The shower was also the best shower I’ve had in Kenya. Water pressure was perfect.
Netflix on the tv was also a huge plus. Couldn’t recommend more for anyone trying to relax and enjoy Watamu.
Great staff - Jojo was really helpful in getting me sorted with everything to do in Watamu. Erik the regular Boda driver also was incredible and always available to pick and drop me off to places. Great location - walking distance to Papa Remos and the beach. Easy to get a boda to main Watamu village. I liked the room size and also liked that I had a kitchen to cook.
location terrific of course and there is a lot to unpack there, from site itself, trees .., to beach, to viewpoints..... Quality of and thought gone into different types of accommodation. Liked the decentralised management - ie no formal reception - which allows for informality and better intereaction I guess with staff.
It is very good villas in the middle of Watamu. 5 minutes by walk from the closest beach. There are market and restoraunts around. The host is very friendly. Apartments are big, clean and they have everything for long staying. The territory is green, the pool is small, but clean
Breakfast could have been improved upon. Omelettes were made fresh, but otherwise options were limited in the buffet. Slices of cheese and deli meat.
Pool was stunning with view of the ocean. Beach was beautiful. Great relaxing area of Watamu.
Amazing host, excellent staff, beautiful space! Was there for one night but I wished I stayed longer. My stay was nothing but perfect. Thank you Andrea and team. Another plus, it's next to one of the best beaches in Watamu.
Clean, quiet place. Customer service was 5 star. Bed was extremely comfortable. Keep track of what you are spending on dinner and drinks. They tried to charge us more than they should have. Good thing we wrote it all down.
Everything about the place was amazing, from the host, the location, the facilities, everything. Strategic location allowing access to every beatiful scene Watamu offers.
An amazing place for a getaway stay.
