The accommodation lies inbetween two main traffic spots, Shizuoka Station and Shin Shizuoka. That was very helpful for exploring. Because of that you will find a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. But one is also quickly in a calm neighbourhood.
In the night it was reasonably quite and I could sleep with an opened window. Of course you still can hear some city sounds.
The staff was nice and helpful.
The breakfast was Japanese style and delicious and satisfying.
You could see the mountains from some of the higher level rooms.

We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.
We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things.
It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors.
Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english.
Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

Oku-oi kojo, Yume no Tsuribashi...difficult to get to, but worth it. A must visit for those who want to get on hanging bridges, unmanned stations in middle of a lake, train lovers, nature enthusiasts and of course kids who love Thomas.

We only stayed in Shizuoka for 1 night and it was definitely not enough length. We saw Mt. Fiji and beaches, and also experienced hot spring. We went to the waterfall as well. All of experiences were enjoyable.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided a variety of toiletries and free water to refill. Everywhere in the hotel was clean. They had a coin laundry. The room has a working TV and the WiFi worked perfectly. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. When we were checking out the staff offered us more free sweets which was very kind of them. The location was great, it's near the bus and train station, so it's easy to visit places, lots of shops and restaurants.
Felt like a Japanese for a day! The house is very spacious and clean. It was decorated in Japanese style wich really impressed us. We went there by car so it was easy for us to reach the house. The host is very nice. She will appoint you to pick up the key at a store nearby and will lead you to the house. We have four people but we think the house would be able to fit more people than that. The facilities were awesome. We had a great experience there.
The hotel looks new and stylish. it’s in the centre of Shizuoka city. The onsen is small, but nice. Made with new materials and with a beautiful green wall in front of the bathtub.
Also during the breakfast the staff (a chef?) in the kitchen was extremely nice and he could speak English. He kindly explained us all about the dishes and recommended the best one - tonkatsu. All the food was very delicious!
I’d like to come again someday.
The location was perfect! Super close to the main station and town center. The hotel had free green tea, which tasted delicious, in the lobby after 3pm. The amenities in the room are really good. The room was comfortable, a little smaller than expected from the pictures but that didn’t bother us.
Grand Hills is a businessman hotel. Many conveniences. Has a cafe and restaurant. Located close to Shizuoka Train Station. I enjoyed their breakfast. There were western style items & traditional Japanese items. Everything was made with great care, plus you can get as much as you like.
It is extremely close to Shizuoka station. The breakfast buffet was very nice. Staff were very professional. Rooms were a good size and great views over the city. We had dinner at the Japanese restaurant and the restaurant was beautiful and the meal was exceptional.
The property was located close to the train station and to a very commercial area full with stores, restaurants, and bars. The hotel was clean and the staff were very nice and helpful.
Quite spacious rooms for a Japanese hotel and great location in front of Shizuoka station. perfect for those who are just passing through and require a night stay.
The hotel was very clean,. The staff spoke to me in Japanese when I spoke in Japanese and used English words only when I was struggling with some vocabulary.
