The location and breakfast were beyond satisfying. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting Arashiyama, and the river view from the window is stunning, with pleasant sounds of the water. During my stay, it rained quite a bit in the early morning, but the soundproofing was so good that I didn't even notice until I opened the window. The sound of the rain and the flowing river was quite loud and surprising when I did. I highly recommend including breakfast; it's better than many high-end restaurants, beautifully presented, and delicious. However, the pickles might be too salty for some; if you prefer less salty food, I'd suggest informing the front desk in advance. The room might feel small, but considering the price and typical room sizes in Japan, it’s not a major issue. The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to assist with any inquiries, not just about the stay but also regarding local facilities and transportation. I felt genuine kindness from all the staff members, making it a wonderful experience.

We were very satisfied here. The hotel has an excellent location. You can visit many interesting places by foot. I was accommodated at the place with a friend in a wheelchair and the staff was very accommodating to us. I would especially like to thank Mr. Yamada, who personally helped us to solve the wheelchair defect. Overall I highly recommend this hotel.

I was very much debating whether to leave a review as I don't often leave reviews. But... the food was very poor. I lived in Japan for a long time and the food was sub standard by a significant margin. I'd recommend the food only if you were completely new to Japan and were interested in trying something new. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and go anywhere else.
