We loved this property - a slice of luxury. Eve thing was perfect, clean and well thought out. We loved the dinner, the massage chair and only wish we could have stayed longer.

The location near the ferry was exceptional. The room we stayed in was traditional with tattami and the bed on the floor with a balcony. It was romantic and nice.

The staff were very friendly and obliging. The room was a traditional style Japanese room with lots of character and a view of the bay. Free breakfast and dinner are included in the price. There is also a very nice traditional onsen available to book for a cheap price.
Reopened in April 2014 after renovations, Miyajima Morinoyado offers comfortable guest rooms and a spacious public bath.

When we arrived there were deers chilling right in front of the ryokan...
It's a bit isolated from the city, which makes it a quiet spot, easy to go hiking from.
The public bath has a big window, I went there late at night, I was the only one, with the lights illuminating the trees it was a really peaceful experience.
Great traditional japanese breakfast, very copious.
There is a small souvenir shop in the lobby.
You can really get the ryokan experience here. And for a ryokan in Miyajima it's not that expensive!

Superb staff service and attitude. Food was excellent. The Onsen next door was a bonus. The Dinner was amazing and pushed our boundaries (in a good way) a little.

A full day on Miyajima is a good amount of time to explore this pretty island. Catch the 2 stage gondolier up Mount Misen (or climb the trail if you're feeling active) and explore the trails, the ancient shrines and temples and then admire the views at the top. Once back down again, the beachfront is picturesque and nice to wander along admiring the island at low tide.

We only stayed one night, but I wish we stayed 2-3. I left feeling like I only scratched the surface. Beautiful and peaceful place to unwind, especially after visiting the Peace Park Museum in Hiroshima.

It is a magic island where I would spend at least a couple of full days by sleeping in an authentic hotel with futon beds. If you can, i recommend to do the hiking of the main mountain (not difficult at all)

If you are an elderly Japanese teetotaller who likes simple food, an onsen and beautiful views this is the place for you!
If however, you also like your hotel to be multi generational, with a nice bar, good food and a welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely not the hotel for you.

We stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer.
We stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We took one whole day climbing the mountain, which was great but time consuming, so we ended up not seeing everything on our list. Keep in mind that the restaurants and bars close by 7 or 8 pm because all of the tourists leave the island around 5:30 pm. You really get to enjoy the beautiful island in peace and quiet in the morning and evening before the boats of tourists arrive. It was our favorite place we visited in Japan!

Miyajima Villa was the perfect escape!
Miyajima Villa was the perfect escape! Friendly, professional staff assisted us to get settled, offering umbrellas for the rain, assistance on getting around the Island, etc. The hotel even offers Onsen clothing and many other amenities for their guests! The hotel is conveniently located just steps from the ferry dock and the main streets to see the Tori Gate or the Itsukushima Shrine, the aquarium, to get to the Ropeway, trinket stores, ice cream stations, and so on. Our ocean room view had 2 oversized very comfy twin beds, a small couch, & desk. Loved the Toto Washlet in the toilet room! The bathtub while small was perfect for soaking after 5 hours of hiking. Lots of soft water and water pressure. The onsen (public bath) was just pure Heaven! :-) Sitting in the enclosed area in back of the hotel is just more of the escape and so worthwhile! :-)
Thankfully there was food available in the hotel (bakery, dinner, breakfast) because ALL food service in town STOPS AT 4:30pm! At least, it did while we were there. Our breakfast with Miyajima Villa was wonderful and very filling whether Japanese or American food.
High caution is advised if you plan to hike from the Ropeway, as we did. Trails are not well marked on all trails. However, the trail to the top of Mt Misen is well worthwhile! Hopefully, you are as fortunate as we were to see the Tori Gate at high & low tides as well as catching it at sunset, which brought out MANY PEOPLE. :-) :-) What a perfectly lovely island to spend some adventure time!
Very nice guesthouse for a stay on Miyajima. The employees are very friendly will provide you with any information needed (e.g. restaurants that are still open after the day-tourists leave). Additionally, you can buy cup noodles/drinks for reasonable prices at the guesthouse.
Great rooms with good view to the garden (and the village, depending on your exact location). As a plus, a random (tamed) deer might hang out in the garden.
This is a perfect location for spending one (or more) nights on Miyajima. Would absolutely come again!
The hotel was expensive but offers a great experiment and the luxury to enjoy Miyajima on the evening, without the crow and enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the island. To room was huge and very clean, the bed very confortable.
The hotel have a whole floor dedicated to well-being, with a salon, onsen, exterior pool, rock bath, karaoke room... That you can access anytime on the opening hour. They have also kimono at disposition at the entry, a little shop on the 1st floor.
This Ryokan greatly exceeded our expectations! The service was fantastic. The breakfast and dinner, which were included in the stay, were amazingly presented, prepared, and tasted out of this world amazingly! I highly recommend this location to anyone looking to stay on Miyajima. Plus since you are in the island after the tourists leave for the day you can go see the gate when the tide is low and there aren't many people around.
The owner of the hotel were very helpful with our any questions. The location of the accommodation was wonderful and we surprised with the 300 years history of this Ryokan but the property is well look after and very comfortable to stay. It is a true Japanese style accommodation. My daughter and I would like to stay again next time when we visit Hiroshima..... Thank you to Okami-san for your great hospitality !!
Staying in this hotel was like going back in time. The host was very warm and welcoming. It was nice to chat with her and she even invited me for breakfast as I had to book a double room as a single traveller. Both dinner and breakfast were rich and very tasty. I highly recommend staying one night on Miyajima and enjoying the scenery late at night / early in the morning without masses of tourists.
A nice traditional ryokan with the option for western type beds. Rooms were very big. Although the rooms were a bit dated, everything was clean. The onsen was great. Food was really good. Service was also great. Location is very good and close to the Itsukushima Shrine. I really recommend staying at the Miyajima Island. After the last ferry you have the island almost completely to yourself.
The view from my sea-facing room...gorgeous! Clean spacious room with all the generous amenities.
I love the hotel onsen...clean and not crowded at all during the separate day/time I visited.
The shuttle bus provided is definitely helpful.
Tho Aki Grand Hotel is definitely far from Hiroshima major sightseeing spots, it's perfect for Miyajima daytrip.
Hotel staff Ms. Sakura was very helpful to suggest places to eat. The dinner and breakfast was good and also a choice of western or Japanese breakfast was nice.
Hotel stored our bags on check out day, as we want to try the ropeway to the mountain on Miyajima and when we returned after lunch provided free transfer to ferry terminal.
Nice hotel close to Miyajimaguchi Train Station ( 3 minutes walking) and Miyajima Ferry station (1-minute walking :-D ). The room was nothing special, but good for staying there for two nights and discovering Miyajima, Hiroshima, and Kure. Breakfast was very good, including local dishes.
We loved the experience at the Miyajima Seaside Hotel . The staff were amazing and very accommodating. I do not eat a lot of fish, and the staff swapped the menu around to include more meat for me. We found the futons to be comfortable, and the onsen was good
Wonderful ryokan with beautiful views. Spacious, peaceful (very quiet), and comfortable. Very good food. Nice onsen facility. Convenient guest laundry. 15-minute walk from the pier and they also provide shuttles. Amazing overall!
Great customer service, very attentive and helpful. Had an amazing ryokan experience. Hotel staff explained everything regarding proper practices at a ryokan. So glad we chose the Kikunoya for our one night in Miyajima.
I loved the location. This place is right next to the giant tori gate and has an in house bath. Absolutely loved the stay and for a great price. There are deer on the island as you step out of the hotel. WONDERFUL stay.
Unique hotel in a renovated Japanese home. Great location, quiet. It was very hot so a/c had difficulty keeping up but small issue for us. Great staff who served us a delicious breakfast which was included.
This is an old traditional hotel with public bath, the place is a little bit remote but very peaceful.
The staff is welcoming, smilling and helpfull.
I have had a great stay in Miyajima .
This was the second occasion I visited Miyajima island and stayed in this hotel. Everything is clean and comfortable. Staff is super nice. I am always sad to leave.
