Pleasantly surprised. I was worried this place might be a bit sketchy based on the pictures, but it's actually quite clean. My room was conveniently located right in front of the washers and dryers--which are a luxury in Japan--so I took advantage of that. The room is small but clean and adequately comfortable for solo travelers.

Great guesthouse with a spacious Japanese-style bedroom. Everything was spotless, and they have a time-slot system for the shared bathroom so that it's easy to use. The breakfast was also delicious. We only stayed one day, I wished we had stayed at least one more. The staff was very kind and agreed to store our luggage on check-out day so that we could go to Geibikei gorge hassle-free. Geibikei is an easy 15-minute stroll from the guest house.

It has been very hot. So the reception /breakfast area was open and cool.
The hotel is close to Ichinoseki Stn which services both Shinkansen and local lines.
There's also quite a large supermarket nearby, and a good selection of restaurants😊
