Nice big hotel with a 60's architecture look. Room and bedding were clean, private bathroom with window overlooking the sea. The hotel is little dated and we can see they do their best to maintain it. Corridors are old, carpets too.....but rooms are clean and nice. Onsen are really interesting with different baths indoor and outdoor. Buffet meals average level. Nice staff. Free coffee and tea. Good wifi.

We could enjoy pool, table tennis for free. There were various foods at buffet. The view from the room was nice. We could see sun rise from the ocean!

To whom it may concern,
I am writing to you in regard to our pitiful stay at SEN NO UMI hotel https://senoumi.jp/ in IZU.
We stayed for THREE nights in SEN NO UMI - IZU and I find it hard to start and express the level of disappointment and disgust I feel as a guest we have felt while staying in this lame / poor level hotel.
Before describing the horrible time we had for three long days, due to the disadvantages of this horrible hotel, I would like to note that all that will be stated as follows are backed up by photos.
SEN NO UMI hotel, although described as a 3-4 hotel is nothing but a 2 stars hotel, if one would like to be generous, and a lame Guest house for 20 something backpackers if one wants to give an honest description. And I will say HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
Having been living in Japan for over 20 years now, this is the FIRST TIME EVER I stayed in a hotel of which I could not figure whatsoever, the price I was asked to pay for such a dubious experience!
SHUTTLE SERVICE
1. Although an email was sent on the morning of our arrival informing the hotel that our time schedule had changed (I have the email with the date and time to confirm we asked the hotel to change the arrival time in advance), NO ONE was waiting for us at the station. After calling the hotel, firstly I was scolded by one of the staff, and only thereafter was told that they are "willing" to send us a shuttle service to pick us up from the station to this "lovely" hotel.
THEN even though Izu-Inatori station has two exits: one with NO stairs, and the other with plenty of them (!!!!): the pick up service did arrived, but for some unknown reason, chose to wait for us at the one which has plenty of stairs (this was the first time I started to get suspicious about the quality and nature of the hotel, not only for having lived in Japan for so many years, but also because I have my own small business which affiliated with overseas tourism to Japan).
Set in Higashiizu, just 600 metres from Atagawa You Yu Beach, 桜薫 熱川駅まで280メートル海水浴場まで500メートル offers beachfront accommodation with free WiFi.

The property is near the sea, walking distance to Atagawa beach and onsen.
30 minute drive to Shimoda and Kawazu waterfalls.
A car is needed to get around this area. There was parking.
Sadly the town is very run down and quiet many places closed.
Our dog was welcome.

A very natural fishing village great for divers and fishermen. People very friendly and earthy. A fantastic place for the sunrise and sunset but no immediate beach area if you want to swim. A lack of restaurants but there is one convenience store and it's very easy to jump on a train and go to the next town.

There isn’t a lot to do in Atagawa onsen. 2 nights and one day was enough. We enjoyed the onsen hotel, ate in the hotel, visited the Banana Alligator park & a small shrine near the station.
If you stayed for a longer time you could travel to Izu-Kogen when there is more to see. If you don’t have a car, the train times are limited so check before you go to avoid long waits in the train station.

The sandy beach and clean ocean are fantastic, as there are also lifeguards so its a nice place to sunbathe and swim. Sadly, Corona virus has had a devastating impact on a lot of the hotels and shops so there aren't many places open. However, the restaurants that are still operating were reasonably priced with great food at reasonable prices. It's easy to get around as it's only a small place. Its built on a steep slope so you can take taxis if you don't want to walk. The station is easily accessible so you can use this town as a base. Just be aware that you will need to pay in cash almost everywhere, so don't rely upon your credit cards. There is an ATM in the local Family Mart Convenience store about ten minute walk from the station.

Higashiizu is small seaside town.
Higashiizu is small seaside town. A couple of nights there was just right, any more time and we would have run out of things to do. If the weather cooperates, you can spend time at the beach or climb the cliff to Sakurayama park for an ocean view. The alligator garden is surprisingly interesting and one can easily spend 2 hours there. Most hotels in the area offer onsens and I believe there are some not attached to hotels. I would definitely recommend having or renting a car so as to be able to visit some of the neighboring towns for some more dining and activity options.
