The Hotel is located near the AirPort with a beautiful view over the ocean. The room we stayed in had a Mountain view, little to see, but did not spend much time there other than sleeping. Room was spacious and modern, bathroom outdated and needs an upgrade. Breakfast was delicious and is the only meal served at the Hotel. As the Hotel is located in an area with no shops it became a problem when an tropic storm came and no lunch/dinner was made available to the guests, only cups of noodles could be bought in the hotels gift shop. The pool area was closed during our stay so can not write much about that. The hotels personell was curtious and kind, helpful. Free coffee and juice served in the hotels reception area. With no transport to Get around be prepared to use the local taxi service or rent a car. The only nearby restaurant is a ten minute walk down from the hotel where the food was affordable and delicious. Would stay at the hotel again.

The quiet surroundings and comfortable beds, amazing breakfast in the morning, and the kind hospitality from the staff. We had a really nice break away from the city in Mantenbo and rested really well with no problems at all!

There are lots of things I loved about this trip:
-The owner helped me to get to the airport, so I saved time and strength for Tokio
-The owned organized breakfast for me so I did not have to go anywhere - I got it delivered by her on the 8 o clock as we agreed the evening before ;)
-The owner helped me with local tips - bus, onsens and stores - I did not have time to check it all, but for sure I will use the tips when I returned to Hachijojima :)
-The drink machine is just outside the apartment.
-The bath is a great thing after a long day of sightseeing.

Me and my wife absolutely loved staying here on Hachijo for three nights, fantastic location near nice restaurants, we also rented a car while there from Kencha Rumah for a very reasonable price as well.
All in all a nice stay on a beautiful island.

Close to airport and city bus line. Especially the just is wonderful and will do all he can for you
Most important: Rent a car when visiting. The island isn't suited for exploration by foot. The distance between places of interest can be great and the whole island is full of steep slopes. I rented an electric bike and would only recommend it to people who have the explicit goal of biking.
It is worth noting that you can reach the island by ferry AND plane. Taking the ferry has three sleeping options - I STRONGLY advise against anything but the most expensive one. I don't know if the first class is good, I just know that the other two are a surefire way to a bad night. Taking the plane is about as expensive or even cheaper than first class on the ferry, only takes an hour, and isn't a 10 hour ship ride. IF you take the ship to the island, I strongly recommend taking the plane back. The ferry leaves for Hachjiojima at 22:30 and arrives at 9:00 - an overnight trip. But it leaves the island at 9:30 and arrives in Tokyo at ~20:00, meaning you lose an entire day.
Regarding the island itself:
I think some of the highlights are climbing Hachijofuji and exploring the abandoned Royal Hotel. Both are manageable within a day. Depending on the weather, Hachijo has a beautiful night sky - it's not called Dark Sky Island for nothing. Other things worth doing are visiting Plant Park in the west of the island and exploring the southern side. There are some nice onsen experiences to be had in the south, but not all of them are open at all times.
Planning a trip of two days, - arrival by ferry at 9 AM, doing things, spending a night, doing things and leaving by plane at 5 PM, - seems prudent choice.
It's a subtropical island, which you might want to keep in mind if you plan on visiting in summer.

Hachijo is a beautiful island with lots of natural beauty.
Hachijo is a beautiful island with lots of natural beauty. There are several cool restaurants to eat and drink. I particularly liked hiking up the two mountains and soaking in the Uramigataki onsen/hot spring. I strongly suggest driving/hiring a driver as taking taxis everywhere isn't particularly convenient.
