Breakfast had a very good spread and good staff. It’s a small boutique hotel with a good lounge, cheery breakfast room, good decor, staffed front office till late and great AC in the rooms during a sweltering June. Very happy with our stay. Keep it up, Montestella!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and I was especially impressed that they could communicate fluefully in both English and Spanish. The breakfast buffet, while simple, had everything needed to start the day right. Highly recommend for a comfortable and hassle-free experience!

Very spacious rooms, comfy beds, clean throughout. Excellent breakfast, just enough to get you going for the day. No language barrier (English) with the very friendly staff. Close to bus stop going to Amalfi.

The amalfi coast is undeniably one of the most beautiful places you will ever see. But. . . It is like an overcrowded, rich, old people Disney land (I can say that because I’m old. 50). Salerno is a real town, with real people, that happens to be near the main attractions of the amalfi coast - at almost 1/2 the cost and double the authenticity. Stay in Salerno and do day trips to see amalfi, positano, etc.

It's a super nice city with many restaurants options, and it's also great for visiting the Amalfi Coast because it has connection to all the important destinations. The food is cheap and tasty, it's clean, it has a nice beach area... Everything was great

A lesser visited town, which makes it even more appealing.
A lesser visited town, which makes it even more appealing. It is perfectly located to the amalfi coast but there are so many things to do in this bigger town such as restaurants, sightseeing and more accommodations. Getting around is easy and you can take the ferry or hydrofoil to get the amalfi coats locations.

A beautiful, peaceful city, with a very long center, various restaurants and shops, the sea is nearby, the promenade is very beautiful. There is a train station, it is close to Amalfi and Positano. Several times we did try to use buses - they are not reliable. Many stores do not have prices on the goods and each time the price is different. Locals treat you like a tourist.

Salerno is a nice city, it is a very good location to stay if you are planning to visit the Amalfi Coast by boat or bus, or to visit Pompei by train.
Lots of bar, pasticcerie, ristoranti and shops.
Unfortunately the beaches in town are very dirty, lots of rubbish, pity:(
Wonderful! The room was beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable! Host was so kind and welcoming. The room was big and felt like a suite. We were thankful for the air conditioner as it was so hot outside! The traditional Italian breakfast displayed in the dining room was a very nice touch. The vibe here is true to the buildings' history; quiet, relaxing old world Italian villa.Just what we wanted while visiting Italy for the first time. Also, it was easy to find from the train station and just steps away from shopping and restraunts.
From the moment we arrived in Salerno it was wonderful - we were met by the property owner, Dario. Kind, sweet gentleman who walked us to the apartment. The apartment has absolutely everything you'll need for your stay - Dario left juice, water, liquor sweets etc to assist with settling in. It is spacious, clean, comfortable and located close to groceries, restaurants, ferries etc The apartment is also located in a very secure building. stayed 3 nights and could have stayed longer. Thank you Dario for your hospitality 🙏
Spacious , clean , easy access , safe , good value for money , everything you need is in there , feels like you’re in your own holiday home . Better than a hotel and the host is brilliant, helpful , accommodating. She even recommended best restaurant and places to visit locally around Salerno . Salerno is underrated part of amalfi coast . We highly recommend staying in Salerno as your base going around amalfi coast and can come back to rest in a lovely place like Gaia14 . You won’t regret it .
The host met us and let us into our room exactly as we anticipated. He is a very nice man who explained the hours of breakfast and check out. Breakfast was delicious and had everything you could need or want. The rooms were spacious, clean and the A/C worked great. The beds are a bit firmer than I prefer but that is the way it is all over Italy, to be expected. The most important thing is that it was clean and comfortable and the host was very friendly.
There are four rooms and each one is themed. We stayed in the “London” room and were very impressed by all the little details representing England. It was very well done, and most importantly the room felt clean and comfortable. The hostess was sweet and let us check in to our room when we arrived early, about 1:30pm. This was the first accommodation in Italy that actually provided cloths m, which we were really excited about. It’s the little things!
The location is great within Salerno, close to the main pedestrian road and the Lungomare, but on a quite little street. The room had view at the Roman Aqueduct. The staff was nice and helped us, though they didn't speak good english. Breakfast was italian: coffee and a sweet pastry product, but the quality was good.
The only thing is the soundproof typical in most Italy; a pair of earplugs will solve it.
Hotel Montestella was an easy, short walk (level ground, 8-10 minutes) from the train station on the main road through the town. Our room was clean and comfortable and also offered a large balcony with a city view. The breakfast was good with many options including hot food choices. Don’t miss the Cathedral of Salerno dedicated to Saint Mathew with its elaborately decorated crypt dedicated to the saint.
I loved the location and the easy parking at night. We travelled to Salerno and stayed three nights. Every day we were travelling to a different Amalfi Coast location, but every night we we’re driving back to Grand Hotel Salerno.
That was one of the greatest ideas and you should stay at Grand Hotel Salerno for that reason.
Easy check in / Friendly reception / Quite clean inside the room
The hotel is a just a few meters away from Salerno Central Train Station and a few blocks away from the ferry station. Hotel location is great and accessible. They let us store our luggage for a few hours after we checked out. Breakfast is also good. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good place to stay in Salerno.
This is a really decent hotel, clean, friendly, great breakfast. Good value for money. Hotel Plaza is at one end of the main pedestrian route into the centre of Salerno, right across the way from the train station - no more than few steps - and also close to the dock for ferries to Amalfi and Positano.
Lovely room ensuite, has bar fridge, aircon, balcony and TV. Very clean and spacious. Bus stop right outside. About 45 minute walk from Salerno train station. Easier to catch the no. 6, 8, 11 or 25 bus and get off at Lungomare Cocorbo, about 5 stops. Would highly recommend.
I found it extremely nice to spend the night on a boat in the middle of the harbor. The waves lull you into the night and you have a wonderful view of Salerno.
Of course, a boat is not a hotel - but it's much cooler if you like being on the water.
The check-in was very clear and easy. Great communication with staff via Whatsapp. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was a kitchen that we were able to use. Hotel is in a great location, right in the center of Salerno.
It was a clean apartment and has a free parking. It was also an 8 minutes travel by car going to piazza della concordia for the ferry boat going to Amalfi, Positano and Capri. And love it also the lungomare of Salerno.
Staff was so kind.
Location is not good, because it is far away from Salerno centre station(2 station). But it’s good for me, so it’s quiet around the hotel.
And i was glad that there was champagne in refrigerator.
Amazing internet speed, never had better in all of Italy! Good location to explore the city. Close to the old town. Close to some excellent restaurants.
