Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and funicular railways. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.
At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.
While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of visitable tunnels and even a Graeco-Roman theatre which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!
Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artefacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.
As for accommodation, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city centre apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.
Just avoid Naples! Traffic way too dangerous and taxis very dodgy. It doesn't feel like being in Europe at all. Much worse than other Italian places as well (e.g. Rome). Cars just don't respect zebra crossings at all, and there are very few traffic lights where you can cross safely.
Avoid, just go someone else in Italy or just to another European country.

A wonderful city and we felt perfectly safe there despite people saying otherwise. Loved the Spanish Quarter and the available trips from the port of Naples. The food and pizza especially was excellent and the shopping OK. Highlight was just walking around, having an espresso at a local bar with the Carabinieri! And the People were friendly and helpful at all times.

Arrived by ferry from Positano and had very good experience using public transport: underground, trains and funicular, throughout our visit.
Also walked extensively.
Food is brilliant in Naples. Local people are very friendly and helpful.
Recommend visit to Pompeii and wear good shoes as plenty of walking on uneven surfaces.

As in any city there was lots to see.
As in any city there was lots to see. The tourist bus was good and you can then plan where to visit again. The information bureau at the train station was excellent, he was most informative and friendly giving us a map and pointing out things we might be interested in. The metro system was easy to use.
As you would expect there were many pizza and pasta and fish restaurants. An abundance of coffee shops with cousant and local goodies.
We spent many hours in the archaeological museum with displays from Pompeii, marble statues,Roman mosaic floors, Egyptology displays and much more.

We enjoyed our visit to Castel St Elmo and the Finiculare. Walking through the old quarter was a great experience. We enjoyed our visits to Sorrento and the train museum at Pietrarsa. Shopping was good and we had the most delicious Margherita pizza in the city.

Naples has a lot of history, and we were in the historic center of Naples. After reading all the stories online of pick pockets and crime, we were skeptical, but took care of our belongings(backpack in front, keep hands in pocket at busy places) but it was all good. So much to see depending on choices. We did Pompeii a must see and took ferry to Amalfi for a day trip which is also a must see.
Pizza at Sorbillo and oldest pizza place in world Antica pizzeria Port'Alba also must do things.
Walking is easy and Uber app works , they have tie up with local taxis.
The breakfast spread was amazing! We were served so many different kinds of pastries, cold cut meats, jams, Nutella, smoked cheese, juices for kids, espresso for me. The room was beautiful with a great view! Location was at the center of many attractions, metro stations, shopping, supermarkets. The owner was super nice and very helpful giving us great advice of places to eat, events happening nearby, popular sites, etc! We visited Italy for 3 weeks and this was probably our favorite hotel that we stayed at!
The flat is a bit claustrophobic and not light enough. The double bed is 2 singles who kept moving away from each other. The breakfast is composed of cakes, jam, nutella and sweet drinks. Too much for me!!!! This is not my type of breakfast but that how it is in Italy unfortunately. The transport near the house is quite rare, so need to walk to take any bus, when they exist!!!!. I found the transport in Naples horrendous. That has nothing to do with El Nido.
I spent many years in Southern Italy and have been to dozens of different hotels and B&Bs. I know that the more affordable options often leave a great deal to be desired, and the actual rooms/apartments do not always match the online descriptions. Not this one! I have been very positively surprised with modern and practical facilities, exceptional cleanness, and very professional and helpful customer service. The price and location were very reasonable too.
I love the location here. It is very close to the Spanish quarter which is a good place for a meal at night time. The hotel gives you very clear instructions on how to reach them before arrival (they include pictures). It's not always easy to find your hotel in Italy so this was extremely helpful. Tomb itself was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was impressive! As was the breakfast which is served to you in your room.
We stayed in this hotel only for one night. Hotel was very clean, rooms are comfortable with air conditioning. The time we were in Italy there was a Taxi strike so it was very difficult to find a ride, but the gentleman at the reception helped us find a private cab. We had a very early flight in the morning so we booked this hotel, Location to the Airport is only 10 minutes away with no traffic.
We loved this location! So easy to access all public transportation though we walked most places. We felt very safe, and the room was clean and comfortable, with espresso to enjoy in the morning (beware that in Italy, you have to manually stop the brewing process). We were provided an excellent map, umbrellas, thoroughly enjoyed this accommodation and Naples.
Sergio is a fantastic host. The busyness of Naples was great to be part of but to be able enjoy a noise free space in the evenings and mornings with a beautiful view of Vesuvius was the perfect end to two a week trip through Italy. Breakfast was delicious. Sergio, again was so lovely, welcoming and generous with his time and advice. Highly recommend
This apartment was just perfect. The best stay in Italy for my family. The apartment is large, with exceptional location, beautifully designed with everything needed. The best was the great host Mauritzio who was so nice, helpful and personal. I would highly recommend Casa Fiorito and would definately stay there again when we return to Naples.
We were greeted very friendly by the staff upon arrival and our rooms were already available for us. We stayed 2 nights and wish we could have stayed more. The hotel location is amazing (less than 1 min walk from the main T-station of Naples). The breakfast we had there was the best we had in italy with a lot of variety and tasty food.
They are so kind and helpful.
I can say that it's the best hostel I stay in Italy. Beds are so good, rooms are very large and you feel like a hotel, not a hostel. Everything was amazing.
Highly recommended to stay. If I visit Italy again, I will stay here again.
Thank you so much for everything!
We have never stayed at a property that was not a traditional hotel - although not exactly a bed and breakfast - the exact location took us by surprise - perhaps common for Naples/Italy/ The photos of course do not depict what you will find upon arrival - basically located in an alley
It was great, it's the best stay I had in Italy, I really can't recommend it enough, it makes you feel at home, it's an apartment full of amenities, which helps you experience everyday life in Naples. Mario was an excellent host, his stay is a highly recommended experience.
Great stay for our last night in Italy! Close to the airport which is what we needed for a 6am flight the next morning. The staff helped us set up a taxi ride for the morning and was very friendly. The hotel and rooms are clean & nice! Great stay and great price.
Wonderful! Your apartment in Naples, Italy, truly left unforgettable impressions. The separate shower, toilet, and bidet provided maximum comfort, while the cleanliness and convenient location made the stay even more enjoyable. The photos correspond to reality.
Great location of suite right in the centre of Naples. Some lovely restaurants nearby (and cafes serving the best coffees and croissants in Italy!). Very clean and comfortable stay, would recommend. Thanks also to our host Bruno who was very helpful.
This is one of the best places we stayed in Italy. Friendly staff, great breakfast, lovely rooms and good location. They are also very helpful if you are trying to get around Naples, Pompeii, Capri or the Amalfi Coast. Excellent!
One of the best places we stayed in Italy, in this case in Naples, it was the perfect location, close to the marina if you want to go to the islands, close to some really good trattorias. Neat and clean and cozy.
After staying in hotels/hostels in other cities in Italy I stayed here and was very happy with it. Very clean place and provide toiletries. It is close to good attractions and restaurants.
