Great location with a fantastic mix of Sereneness, Modern (Manipal & Malls), Tradition, Lovely Temples with an aura of their own, Superb beaches, Good Food (Woodlands, Madhuram & some small eateries, especially has great options for Vegetarian), Excellent drives with good roads (except minor irritants here & there which should be overlooked), Cute Railway Station, Clean & neat Town and above all, wonderful people. Above all, achieved with motto of built-in Sustainable Travel.
Lot of must visit places and unfortuantely, I could visit only about 25%? It has so much to offer.

Udupi Comforts is a newly started Hotel.
Udupi Comforts is a newly started Hotel. Hence they are still learning. The hotel front and the entrance lobby were attractively made up. There was ample space for the car park. The person at the reception had to transfer the baggage to the rooms since there was no housekeeping staff. Also, only one set of soap and towel was provided for two persons. But they supplied the second set on request. The room was of good size and it was clean. AC was working. They did not provide breakfast and the restaurant wasn't close by. Overall the stay was quite good.
They can improve the room service by adding some staff.
We had breakfast at Shanti Sagar and dinner at Woodlands.
Udupi is now a developed modern City.

Udupi is a nice city with courteous and mild-mannered people. The temple is the main attraction and its precincts are clean and well maintained. Malpe beach has clean sands and white frothy waves lapping at one's feet. Food is tasty with delectable vegetarian fare as well as sea-food. No visit is complete without having hot filter coffee !!

Pros: Spirituality meets fun.
Pros: Spirituality meets fun. Calm beaches and traditional temples. The people here are extremely helpful. Beaches: Kodi Bengere, Malpe, Kapu and Maravanthe. Temples: Udupi Krishna, Chandramouleeshwara temple, Annegudi Vinayaka, Kollur Mookambika, Brahmalingeshwara, Dharmasthala Majunatha swami
Food: Mangalore buns, Neer Dosa, Mangalore bajji, Patrade, Kadubu, Menthiya dosa, Kokkum
MTR, Hotel Latha Veg, Mitra Samaj and Woodlands are some good places
Cons: Beware of private bus drivers who drive rash, if you're driving around.
Probably the best place to stay in Udupi. There are several other hotels which charge 7 or 8 times as much and yet it is hard to imagine what more they could deliver to justify the cost. I have stayed at the Taj in Mumbai and Lucknow so I know what high-end hotels have to offer. The adjoining Pai Tiffin restaurant serves delicious food at reasonable prices. The staff were very helpful to this foreigner who arrived at short notice.
I liked the location of the property. we could see Sei Krishna Matta from our window from 7th floor. The hotel is that close to the Matta. Also it is close to the Udupi bus stand (walkable) & to the Udupi railway station (4 KMS). The hotel is right in the middle of the local market. The washed clothes dry quite fast in the room.
