Google maps said that it would take us 2hours 17 mins to reach Alwar from Gurgaon and that's what it took. The drive down NE4 was smooth like a dream.
Alwar has a lot to offer--Arravali hills, ancient forts, a Tiger Reserve and interesting ancient Hindu and Jain temples. The Alwar Palace is also a fine structure reflecting Indo-Islamic architecture. The Forts need better upkeep but nevertheless they are striking.
There are several good resorts in Alwar which makes the experience really comfortable. Travel in a good air-conditioned SUV and you have a great experience.

its an unexplored gem.
its an unexplored gem. Visit the state museum, and lake besides the city palace and then drive up the hill to Bala Qila providing mesmerizing views of the whole area. Buy different varieties of succulent kalakand from Kanhaiya sweets on Manu Marg and eat a sumptuous meal at Fauji Raj Dhaba. Just outside the city visit the Silichet lake and the bhim caves.

There are various types of castles and forts on the border between mountains and plains. Here is very close to the capital New Delhi. Alwar City Palace holds valuable collections. Foods are delicious with special milk products, so we can enjoy there for a short weekend trip or a long stay.

Very nice couple helped for check in at 1:00 night due to rainfall we were not able to reach our resort in sariska, had to stay the night in alwar. They arranged dinner at 1:00 night, CCTV was there, everything was safe and friendly. The owner told us not to talk to anyone around at night and called us regularly until we reached safely. Thanks for great hospitality, we’ll visit again surely
We had our lifetime experience here, both uncle and aunty are awesome. They made us feel as we are staying at our home only. We took scooty from them which quadrupled our entrire trip experience. We had breakfast with them which was also very delicious.
We are thankful to them for their hospitality...will recommend 100% to anyone who is planning to visit alwar.
This was my 6th time in India and this hotel is my number 1 experience, for two main reasons: the stunning renovation of a 900 years' old fort, and the amazing food (dinner and breakfast were exceptional). Also, the manager spontaneously upgraded me to a rooftop room with stunning views over the hills.
