The extra little touches like freshly baked brown bread, tea bags, butter, and milk in the fridge went down a treat.
The surroundings outside the cottage were beautiful and very peaceful, and we were a wee bit sorry we didn't take full advantage by booking for 2 nights.

We visited Woodstock in Inistioge which is a short scenic drive from Thomastown. The grounds which are full of specimen trees and flowers are well cared for and are stunningly beautiful. There is a charming tea rooms in the walled garden and well equipped playgrounds for children. There are plenty of picnic facilities with parking and toilets etc. A fantastic place for tourists and families to explore and to comune with nature.

A stunningly beautiful place but be prepared for the late check in time of 4pm. I’m my opinion this is a forced measure so you book the additional night knowing well that if you’re attending a wedding party you’re left with very little choice.
I cannot fault the hotel and the staff and super friendly however management should reconsider options for check in times

I like Thomastown but because of Covid very few places to eat. I was there earlier and choice of restaurants much better. We were there Monday to Wednesday and most evening places didn't open until We'd to Sunday and that was also in Inistioge. We found a place in St Mullins opened til 8 so that was good. It is a very interesting area much to explore , Graugnamanagh beautiful .

Thomastown has lovely walks to offer by the river and surrounding areas. Stayed in Ballyduff House and it’s a hidden gem! Dined in Barrows Keep Restaurant and it has to be recommended, friendly service, fabulous food, busy place but very pleasant atmosphere 😊 We also visited Tim’s Bar and were served good bar food, very reasonably priced, by very friendly staff and they serve a good pint of Guinness too! Jerpoint Abbey is close by and it’s a very interesting historical site. Woodstock is close by and well worth a visit too.

It's a nice size town with enough facilities such as supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants, newsagent and gift shops. It also has it's fair share of historic spots in or very close to the town. It's definitely a good base to explore Kilkenny and Carlow especially if even Kilkenny city is too urban for you.
Outstandingly spacious and comfortable accommodation. The hosts couldn't have been more thoughtful and kinder, providing useful travel advice from the moment we had booked. Situated on the edge of Thomastown, it is an easy walk into the town where there are excellent bars as well as to good supermarkets for stocking up with essentials for self-catering. Thoroughly recommend.
Bit off the beaten track but boy was this worth it. The lady that runs the show is a born hotelier. Beautiful, genuine hospitality and an old, characterful, beautiful house and awesome grounds. Hands down, the best place I stayed in Ireland.
