Barnahown, Mitchelstown, hotel in Mitchelstown

Boasting a garden and views of mountain, Barnahown, Mitchelstown is a bed and breakfast set in a historic building in Mitchelstown, 45 km from Rock of Cashel.

Barnahown exceeded our expectations. The views surrounding the house were stunning. The rooms were gorgeous and extremely clean. The beds were so comfy and the room was quiet making for a great sleep. We made use of the hot tub twice, where we got to enjoy the scenery and mountain views. Even the breakfast was delicious. We got to enjoy locally sourced apple juice, beer and chocolates during our stay. Over all, Ciara was a wonderful host, we felt she had really thought of everything. She even went out of her way to find us some high vis jackets so that we could walk safely to and from the nearby town. We also got lots of great recommendations for local hikes and walks.

My husband and I felt so at home in Ballinwillain House, we were greeted by Miriam on arrival and felt very welcome. We had a fabulous night's sleep in the extremely comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean, bright and fresh. The breakfast was superb, served by Elaine who couldn't do enough for us. We enjoyed a lovely chat with the Mulcahy family and discovered Miriam and I were at the same school. We would definitely recommend this gem in Mitchelstown for your night away. We will be back!!

Beautiful house located through a pleasant estate. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our rooms which were spacious and well equipped. The grounds have deer , hogs, goats which were lovely to see. A gentle walk into mitchelstown to eat in the Hunters Rest which was busy and staff were welcoming. Breakfast was fab with a fry as well as lots of fresh fruit and yogurts. Good coffee. Hosts were chatty and good craic.

The lady who greeted us at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful with very well maintained gardens. There is a lovely mindfulness garden and benches to relax at. Breakfast was also really good the next morning. Very peaceful place and close to Mitchelstown Centre, just a 10 minute walk.

Ciara is an amazing host and we loved the little local personal touches of sourced food and drink. It’s the way a bnb and hotel should operate! Our two doggies loved their stay too . We will be back hopefully in a year or 2 and looking forward to explore the local area a bit more!

Absolutely unique and charming place! A privilege to stay at Ballinwillin. Drifted off to sleep to the sound of Mitchelstown church bells marking the hours. Even the goats are friendly! Can’t wait to return.
