The small town is a bit neglected, the pavement is potholed, and the evening lighting is also weak. The spa mainly focuses on families with children. The swimming pool was closed, replaced by a water park for children. So there is no proper swimming pool. Restaurant options are very poor. Very high prices with very bad food. There was only one exception, the main building upstairs restaurant.

As written the wellness was the only part that met our expectations. The service was slow, the staff very unfriendly. The food was ok for adults but very poor options for kids. And that for a lot of money. There are much better wellness hotels where I’ve already been.

Zalakaros is a friendly town in Zala County.
Zalakaros is a friendly town in Zala County. We love the atmosphere and the friendliness of all the people we met there.
You can spend days in the termal spa, visit the natural wonders nearby, go for sightseeing with dotto, segway or electric bikes.
If you are a first-time visitor it is worth to check the Tourist Office in the center.

We used Zalakaros as a stopover to/from our main holiday (in Croatia), and what a good choice it was. It is a beautiful town, clean and well kept. The Spa is also very clean and well managed. I would also strongly recommend the Koma Restaurant - superb food, great service and value for money.

I only visited for the Tour de Zalakaros cylcling race and stayed for only 2 nights, but if possible for a next year visit hope I can stay a bit longer to discover more about the city and its surrounding areas, check out the Szilágyi Pastry Shop (has a high recommendation rating), the Thermal Spa, one of many restaurants, and also visit the Zalakaros Lookout but not just climbing it on a bike but just walking up there should be a pleasent sight too. It's also recommended to go on a solo/family cylcing tour, you get to enjoy some seriously beautiful scenery. ;)
Csak a Tour de Zalakaros kerékpáros verseny miatt utaztam le és csak 2 éjszakát maradtam, de ha jövőre lesz lehetőségem újra eljönni, akkor remélhetőleg hosszabb ideig tudok majd maradni és Zalakaros teljes egészét bejárhatom majd, a Szilágyi Cukrászdába ellátogatni (egész magas értékelést adtak nekik), a Termál fürdőt, bármelyik étterembe a sok közül :) Felmászni a zalakarosi kilátóhoz is, de nem csak bringával ezúttal, hanem gyalog is, hogy gyönyörködhessek a kilátásban. :)
Egyéni/családi kerékpáros túra is ajánlott, csodálatos látványban lesz részünk. ;)
The hotel has been very nicely renovated since our last visit 5 years ago. A completely new reception and better equipment of the rooms in the apartment part of the hotel make a good impression. Breakfasts and dinners were very solid with a rich selection and well organized. The staff at the front desk spoke good English and were helpful. The kids were happy with the computers with games at the front desk.
Very friendly host and easy to communicate with. He met us at the hotel desk and walked us over to the apartment in the other building. Lots of parking space in the underground parking lot. I recommend visiting the Thermal hot springs pools just across the street. Very nice and very very big! Beautiful big bathroom with spacious separate shower and a large hot tub bath.
Fantastic localization (3 minutes walking from terms), the best restaurant in Zalakaros, for sure not worth to eat anywhere else! Very clean!

We had apartment with 2 bedrooms, which was perfect for our 5 members family, youngest one was sleeping on huge couch in living room :)
The spa and the pools are accessable through a hallway from the hotel, so you don't have to go outside. It is a perfect place for families with or without kids for all ages.
Great choices of food, nice wine selection from the menu.

The hotel is very spacious. There is a restaurant in the hotel, prepare very good and tasty hungarian food.
The staff was very nice and helpfull, we got an extra big suite, probably because there was free rooms. Wellcome drink provided by the receptionists
It was all fine. We did not stay in Zalakaros to spend time there, we kind of travelled through so this place was just a stop for us but it was a great one. The owners/hosts are really friendly, accommodating, flexible and helpful. Absolutely recommended.
Large apartment with terrace and garden. Ideal for a family with children. Walking distance to the wellness and spa center as well as several restaurants and wineries. The landlord was very helpful.
We were staying at this hotel just for one night as a stop during our journey home. And for such shorr stay it was ok. Not for longer stay. Plus for the towels and clean sheets.
