Nyiregyhaza is a very nice 100K citizens Hungarian city. It's very clean, you can see that it's been taken good care of. Nice parks, sculptures, a mixture of cultures, great places to hang out or to go out for a portion of great food and drinks. It's also a university city and has a great zoo on the outskirts of the city. I'd say that it's also climatically and geographically situated perfectly well - just 2+hrs from Budapest (by highway), the nearest airport is in Debrecen which is some 80 km from Nyiregyhaza, neighbouring Ukraine and Slovakia (literally an hour's drive to each of the above mentioned), Tisa river is near, lots of water and forests. In general, it seemed to me that people of Nyiregyhaza are very happy with the place where they live in.

An amazing place to visit with family and friends, people are kind, attractions are great. Huge outdoor park spa with indoor kiddie pools and other specialty ones. Animal park is huge, has elephants, giraffes, a restaurant, petting zoo and an oceanarium. Lots of fountains all over town, lots of ice cream and the streets are clean in general.

The city center is not very interesting. It's classic small Eastern Europe city and 3 hours is enough to see it all. Nyiregyhaza has great thermal spa, thermal lake and zoo, which I think are it's main attractions.

A clean city with some excellent attractions on the out skirts. Highlights included the aqua parks (Decent size, clean with plenty to do), the zoo (Lots of animals, well kept and a good day out), the tree climbing adventure park and the restaurants. The prices are good value for money and the portion sizes for food are very generous.
The City was quiet given the amount of shops, and getting around wasn't a problem. Best learn some Hungarian, as half the places we visited couldn't speak either English or Polish.

Calm city , with some interesting sights. Zoo is one of the most popular one in Europe. Thermal spa in Nyiregyhaza is very popular as well. Salt Lake of Nyiregyhaza (Sosto in Hungarian ) is very nice place.

As first-time visitors, with an eight-year old child, we were pleasantly surprised how safe, calm and clean town it is. Found people to be very kind, smiling and looking one straight in the eye with a sense of small-town curiosity, but not at all offensively - it showed honesty.
We all loved the spacious squares, the abundance of fountains, ample seating, old shade trees. They sell some great artisan ice creams, even in gluten-free cones.
Loved shopping for specialty foods. Check out the crystal shop downtown!
Have a cup of coffee at Szifon Espresso Bar.
The location is wonderful, the hotel is situated in the woods, but access is rather easy to the city and to the zoo. It is a 3-5 minute drive to the Zoo. The price includes access to the Zoo for the entire stay, which is wonderful. The staff was very friendly (we asked for a kettle in the room, and they offered one for the whole stay) and the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable with big windows and comfy bed. The corner for children on the second floor was perfect.
Excellent location- next to lake, close to ZOO, free entrance to Aquarius, fresh air, nature, could see music fountain from balcony. Sauna is for payment in Aquarius, but there is a free sauna in a hotel with jacuzzi, and relax place next to it. Nice bonus was a coffee machine in a room, Very nice, and pleasant stuff, I took some therapeutic procedures in Aquarius that was excellent opportunity too. Wines/beer in a restaurant had been very delicious.
great hotel, it looks like it’s new, and everything would be fine, BUT!!! There was no minibar in the room or just water to drink. I’m sorry, but this immediately ruined the whole impression... there was no breakfast, neither in variety nor in taste... By the way, neither the pool nor the sauna are open 😥, until spring... then please indicate this in the offer... I left in upset feelings... For 108 euros per night I didn’t matches!!!
The hotel is a charming old hotel, which has certainly seen better times, but definitely worth a visit. Location very central to the city. Room reasonably large and well equipped. Good mattresses. Breakfast was good and the waiter took care of filling and clearing alone. Incidentally, the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Everything. In person it looks even better then on Booking.com photos. This place is a gem in the centre of Nyiregyhaza. Minimalistic and a peaceful place worth of visiting in every season. It’s very spacious and clean. The staff are very kind, they were very helpful.
We stayed at Aventinus Hotel for a couple of nights whilst assisting our elderly parents evacuate from Ukraine. All staff and management were extremely considerate and helpful in what was a stressful time. We thank you all with all our heart!
This hotel is very clean and quiet. The beds are nice and the shower is good. Location and area is very nice. The staff not too friendly even if you speak Hungarian. Not sure about the garden, dead trees and plants, seems uncared for.
It has its own small island, very clean, the personnel AMAZING! Lost my key and they came at 2am to open for me. THANKS. The spa is GREAT. Parking plenty. It is a gated hotel. Beside the bufet breakfast, you can order from a menu.
