It's all about the sunset over the Caldera, which is stunning. For those who like eating and shopping there is a wide choice to suit all needs. BUT be prepared for the large crowds of fellow tourists you will have to squeeze past or dodge whilst wandering round.
If travelling by bus be careful the central bus station is chaotic and with buses constantly backing in and turning round have your wits about you.
The Old Port is worth a visit but with 600+ steps down and constant flow of donkeys taking tourists up & down be careful as they vere towards you. Would certainly recommend the cable car 6 euros to get back up to the town.

Fira and Oia are very busy areas especially when there were numerous cruise ships in port with everyone wanting to get ‘the perfect picture’.
Bus system good to get to all areas of the island, don’t be put off by the bus station in central Fira - it can be a bit daunting and hectic.
The 13km walk from Fira to Oia was good, but required sensible shoes as there were a lot of steep hills and loose stones underfoot.
Quaint in places on the main streets in Fira and Oia however sadly we found the areas away from the main drag to generally be dirty with a large litter problem as the tourists don’t seem to use rubbish bins.
For a quieter more relaxed experience catch the bus to Perissa, walk along the black sand beach and chill out

Two recommendations for visitors to Santorini:
1. Have dinner at Parea Tavern. It's a traditional Greek restaurant which had a (relatively long) queue when we arrived, but it moves quick, and you understand why when you taste the food. Staff are really friendly, and the food is unmatched.
2. Book a luxury catamaran with Sunset Oia Sailing for a day trip on the Aegean Sea.

Tourist central.
Tourist central. Parts have iconically beautiful views, but you have to look over and beyond the crowding and the trash. A day trip is more than enough to see the highlights. Crowded, expensive, not much to do if you are not into shopping for overpriced and repetitive merchandise - much of it from NOT produced locally. Not much on the way of beaches. Bus system rocks!

It is a beautiful town with amazing views, great restaurants and shops. Prices are however too high and the crowds are just too much.
What I disliked/hated the fact that they use donkey and horses to bring tourists and their belongings, from the old port all the way up the caldera into town.
I hiked the path all the way down to the old port and back up early in the morning it was exhausting. I can’t imagine doing it in the heat in the middle of the day with 200lbs on my back. Just disgusting!
Not returning for sure!
The staff were amazing. We had Peter taking care of us. He organised cheaper cabs to Fira for us, food and cruise while we stayed. For our last day because we were leaving so quickly they arranged for our breakfast to come earlier. The hotel itself has an amazing view of Santorinis volcano Island and amazing sunset.
Too bad to have spent only two nights in this very clean and welcoming hotel in a convenient location to reach the centre of Fira on foot.
It was just a hit and run to Santorini but if I return I would stay at this hotel again.
I loved cats who welcomed us at reception.
The hotel is very close to central Fira and the bus station which made it very easy to get anywhere on Santorini. Luca was super helpful and gave us lots of good tips. Breakfast was also great and the general facilities were good. Highly recommend!
This is the perfect place for a family to stay while visiting Santorini. The shuttle for the quick drive into Fira was extremely convenient as there is not much around the hotel. The breakfast was wonderful and had a huge variety of options.
Miss Irene is such a sweetheart! Even gave me a Santorini map, the hotel felt like a home, very clean and its very close to Fira’s main square and the bus stop is right there too! Very comfortable
