The old town is very walkable, although you used to be able to walk all the way round the coast, now there’s a locked gate due to falling rocks.
There’s lots of tourist shops and a hop-on, hop-off bus that will take you around and up to the Fortress where the views of Nafplio are superb!
It can be a little daunting under foot due to the climb, so good shoes are a must!
The Bourtzi Island is well worth a visit and is reached by a little boat many times a day.

A beautiful town, with lots of interest, both historical and nightlife-wise. Lots of pleasant bars, restaurants of high quality and a range of prices. A safe place to walk around at night too, with a relaxed atmosphere. Gonia tou cavalouri served both of us one of the best meals we’ve ever had in Greece over many years of visiting.

Well, Nafplio is a fantastic town. You have to visit.
Well, Nafplio is a fantastic town. You have to visit. It has a wonderful architecture, beautiful little streets, access to the sea, close to many orchard, archeological sites, museums, beautiful stores, many boutiques, great restaurants. For summer visitors, the downtown can be quite hot and humid, so prefer staying a little further outside and just visiting the downtown early and late in the day when it is cooler, but that it a matter of preference...Not to be missed!

One of the most beautiful places to visit, approximately 2 hours from Athens. The old town is a gem, we had the most amazing dinner at a tavern called "The Corner of Kavalaris" and we travelled by car both to the Kandyli and Kandia beach which are around 20 to 30 minutes away from our Guesthouse. I would gladly revisit next year or sooner if possible.

We have traveled the entire country of Greece, and Nafplio is our favorite place! It is not only beautiful, but the shops and restaurants are amazing. Safe, clean and highly recommended for a stay away from the crowded islands!
Very good hotel, 7 min drive from Nafplio. All was good but two highlights: The breakfast is awesome and rivals 5* upscale hotels. 7 different pies to choose from, organic options, fruits, cakes, oats and bloody chia seeds, flax seeds and goji berry. I stayed at an InterCon last week and they didn't have such healthy options! The other highlight is the manager, Lia, that is ever helpful and will also give you the off-the-grid info to have a blast with secret beaches and places to visit.
New luxury hotel, very nice decor, spacious room, good shower. Nice view from balcony of the old fortress on top of the cliff.
Great staff, Kostas is the happiest host.
Breakfast excellent, served on your balcony, they give you a menu to fill out each day with many good choices. Fresh orange juice, cappuccino, fruit, yogurt, eggs etc.
The town of Nafplion is a must visit and Castellano Hotel & Suites is an absolutely gorgeous boutique hotel! The staff were super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was incredible! I wish we had stayed longer as there is so much to do and see around the town. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again myself!
