Beautiful small town, lovely sandy beach, free sunbeds, lots of shops, restaurants, boat trips, affordable rent a car, historican sites. l just loved it. And cats, just wow, l liked that people take care of them.
On the other hand, l hate those annoying spaces for cycling, if you walk it's frustrating. It's not Netherland. So sad. And food prices are higher than expected.

I really like the atmosphere in the town.
I really like the atmosphere in the town. There are quiet parts and lively parts but nothing too rowdy. There are a lot of attractive historic buildings and archaeological sites and museums, a wide choice of bars and restaurants etc. It is a good base for taking day trips or longer excursions to other islands. The port is a short walk from the centre and day trips leave from the main promenade, a bustling area that is a sight to behold in the evenings, with all the incredible trip boats lit up with colourful lights, vying for people to sign up for their trips. There is no pressure though - it's all friendly and laid back.

The town centre is polished to appeal to tourists, including the beaches, especially the ones close to the town centre. It is easy to get around the town, you will find your way just after a few hours of going around. Just outside the town centre, it can be really difficult to walk, as the pavements are in a bad state and the layout of the trees is really badly designed and you just have to walk on the road. There is a good length of cyclable area that unfortunately is also used by mopeds and electric scooters.
The beaches within walking distance of the town centre have all free beds if you eat and drink at their restaurants, but the menus are standardised for a certain type of tourism, so instead of Greek food you are more likely to find hamburgers, sandwiches and salads dressed with mayonnaise.
The beaches outside town are less fancy but more authentic. Renting a bike is highly recommended to reach them easily (even the cycle to Tigaki Beach is durable as it's all flat).
You can food good food at a cheap price if you avoid the lights and attractive places in the town centre. Get out in the back street, there are many Tavernas that may be less attractive but with a way higher value in quality. Talk to the waiters, and ask for advice of food and you will not be disappointed.
It is a pity that the historical sites in the town are really badly kept and almost abandoned, littered with plastic bottles and weeds.
Overall we had a good stay, but looking back I would travel more around the island.

Need a car to explore.
Need a car to explore. Especially the west side if staying in Kos Town. Kefalos and Kardamena have great beaches. They don’t rip you off for using the sun lounge chairs like other islands. The east has Fokas beach too. Great sunsets in Zia or Mylitopi. Walk through the old town and pay homage to the father of medicine. Hypocrites were he use to hold his lessons for students under the famous tree.

Heaps to do, from the ancient sites, history, old town.
Heaps to do, from the ancient sites, history, old town. Plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, shopping.
Many places to explore and great beaches to visit on the island. Definitely need a car or scooter to get around and explore the island.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Air conditioning worked well and great normal sized fridge with freezer compartment. Also had the use of a pool at a nearby hotel which was great. Hotel ideally situated to walk to Kos town port-5 mins and 10 mins walk to bus station. Also lots of ruins to see nearby and amphitheater.
Staff were excellent across the hotel, very attentive and nothing too much trouble. The hotel is immaculately clean and the room we stayed in was excellent. Taxi to Kos town was quick and cheap. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby but Kos Town has more variety.
