Very nice traditional establishment, cosy and very clean. It is close to the centre of Agios Athanasios and has free parking really close as its on the edge of the village. The hotel certainly is not aimed to be luxurious but is adequately pleasant.

We really enjoyed that the house was very well equipped with everything you could possibly desire!
They had even provided with logs to fire up the chimney, which we did and was magical!
Quite spacious place! On the floor you enter there is the kitchen and the fireplace with the living room. Downstairs there is a room with a double bed and the bathroom with bathtub. Upstairs there is another room with a double bed and a toilet.

Unfortunately very few visitors for mid/end August. Only one tavern and a cafe open in central square. We will return for winter stay during ski season.

My experience and belief are aligned also with most guests' opinion this destination is worthy to be visited only during the winter. The venue is arranged for winter period guests and even the whole village. During the summer months, there are no open restaurants or other shops ( like coffee shops in the village). There is a struggle if you are visiting the village and nobody informs you that there is no open tavern or restaurant, there is no open kiosk in the village to purchase small things ( cold drinks, cigarettes etc)

Palaios Agios Athanasios is near Kaimaktsalan ski center.
Palaios Agios Athanasios is near Kaimaktsalan ski center. Day trips can be done to Edessa with its 70m. waterfall, Pozar hot springs and even a visit to Nymfaio.
Lot of places to eat and drink, which are much more crowded in weekends.
The access is easy but depend on weather you may need non-slippery chains for the car.
You should be prepaired for low temperatures, so bring warm clothes.

A very well established village for wintertime activities...
A very well established village for wintertime activities and vacations. The closest you can get to the ski resort (25min with car). Also, great spot for hiking to the summit of Mount Kaimaktsalan (1,5h hike from the ski resort during summertime). During summertime most of village's shops, taverns and cafes are closed. Also, summertime hiking and nature activities in the area, still need work to be done to attract more outdoors enthusiasts.

A beautiful area with terrific scenery and lots of tourist attractions a short distance away. The village itself has everything you need if you don't want to travel, plenty of choices of tavernas, cafes, bars etc. Friendly locals who say hello if they see you a second time :-)
If you can, go to Edessa for the waterfalls and Loutra Pozar for the thermal waters, the National Park at Naoussa is really lovely.
The only downside to our stay was not enough snow to ski.

The guest house is located in a picturesque village, with stone decorated houses, in the middle of the mountains. Very quiet, relaxing environment; the temperature was also a bless in June.
It has a parking lot in front and it is located very close to a grocery store and many restaurants.
The room had a balcony with a scenic view. The bathroom was clean and well equipped.
The owners were friendly and willing to help. They supported us with advices, making our stay more comfortable.
An amazing hotel with a lovely staff . This is in a skiregion but also a good choice when you like to hike . This hotel got it all even a big private parking and a bar , even a restaurant is close by . The breakfast they serve is frim local ingredients … so nice , we definitely coming back to this hotel !
And when the hotel is not fully booked , it is possible that you get an upgrade !
Everything as we expected. Easy to find. Parking place. Spacious, modern, fully equipped apartment. Everything very clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. Balcony with an unforgettable view of the mountain Kaimaktsalan. Fireplace. Hot tub. Really ultimate place for absolute rest and reset.
Our host, Mrs. Anna, a very pleasant and hospitable lady, made us feel at home.
We stayed in a very cozy and beautiful room! It was very warm, well-decorated and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a free of charge parking lot next to the hotel. The location is very good, it's a two minute walk from the center. The breakfast was also okay. I would stay here again.
The hotel is very warm, cozy and traditional. Most importantly for me they are pet friendly, so we could bring our dog. The breakfast was big and had a lot to choose from (the pitakia and mpougatsa were sooo delicious!). The family is very friendly.
Full and generaly very good breakfast and amenities set in an excellent location with excellent hospitality and very friendly people. Ia would highly recomenend the hotel and the destination to all mountain and ski enthousiasts.

Beautiful Hotel. Rooms were quite comfortable for a family of 4. Breakfast was delicious with great views of the village. Stuff were always polite and helpful. Spa facilities were clean with a good relaxing atmosphere.
