Parking is difficult in the center, need to use a paid parking place. You can take a walk on the Apolloniados street that gets closed for cars in the evening.

I guess it is the right city for beach vacations. Not much to do If you are looking for historical attractions I would not rate Alexanroupoli high. It has a few very small museums. Two of them I've visited. It is possible to walk to them. One at the city center ethnography museum. I'd recommend visiting. It won't take a lot of time, but the atmosphere there is nice.
Also, there is a small archeological museum, something like 2,5 km away from the center.
The local tavernas has a tasty food. the prices are reasonable.
The beaches are slightly out of the city, but not too far. Nice sand

A great place for beach life and to explore the area, take a trip off the main drag and explore the mountains and plains for the area , its was busy in the centre off season, prepare for crowds when the summer hits. restaurants in the area are hit and miss with prices around 30 euro for two for a very basic meal ,without alcohol in 2023, want fish or seafood then add a lot more. I cant believe they are still charging 2-3 euro for a small portion of bread which seems to be mandatory, english not spoken everywhere, bring your phase book. easy access to islands if you can find a place to book your ferry.

Alexandroupoli (Dedeağaç) is the nearest town in Greece to Turkish border. Therefore it attracts lots of Turkish tourists especially on weekends. There are many good taverns amd bars. We like it very much. I would recommend Agora for meat lunch, Nisiotiko and Saint George's Tavern in Makri (10km) for seafood dinner. Avoid sundays if you like to do some shopping all shops are closed.
Breakfast can be more varied, but anyway it was very fresh, location of the hotel is excellent it is about 20 minutes walk to the Harama beach, 15 minutes to the city center, very clean, that means that staff cleans the room and change towels every day, sheets in a day. The main important thing is the staff I highly appreciate to receptionist Roula, who is very helpful, polite and kind person. She did all the best to provide requested needs of the gest and support them. Thanks a lot for such kind of professional approach.

The stay was very pleasant. My room was as advertised with comfortable beds, a private bathroom, AC, TV, and provided toiletries. The location was walking distance to the downtown area and to the nearby beaches. The included WIFI was decent and fast enough for Netflix. The daily breakfast spread was extensive and very good.

Cosy appartments, everythink you need for a short or long stay is available in. Very nice and clean rooms! The host was waiting for us, even it was a holiday in Greece. Top location, close to the beach, restaurants.
The staff was helpfull and polite, breakfast was good but the same every day, location of the hotel is excelent,close to the city shops and bars and on the beach, the room was cleaned every day and changed towels.
Breakfast was really nice. Pool is big enough, beach is nice. they have kids club during the day and cinema club in the night time. It is near to city centre and you can easily go for a dinner or lunch.
We chose this hotel because it was close to casino.the receptionist “nola” and “harika” were amazing and helpful.rooms are much more better than it seems on pictures.
The best thing about hotel Klio is its location - 3 min from the beach. The beds were comfortable and the lienens were clean and were changed regularily.
