ibis Wakefield East-Castleford, hotel in Wakefield

Set in Whitwood , ibis Wakefield East-Castleford has a bar. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and room service, along with free WiFi and parking.

The room was as we expected from Ibis hotels. All good. After a long and difficult journey from Scotland it was just what we needed. The purpose of the stay was to be near Spire Methley hospital where I had to book in at 7.00 a.m the next morning for an operation.

Wakefield itself is quite interesting, and the cathedral is lovely. The coffee shop I went in (name forgotten unfortunately) also seemed to do a good range of interesting cakes. It was quite near the main station.

Wakefield is a very compact city, lots of shops and plenty of places to eat. Convenient to travel to other locations. Cathedral is nice. The Six Chimney's a lovely pub and great food. Two train stations made travel to nearby places easy.

We travelled for work, and after spending 12 hours at work. the most important thing to look forward to is a clean warm room with a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water for a bath or shower and a good nights sleep, this is the 7th time of staying at the Campanile hotel, so we are really pleased with this hotel. Good place to eat is the Red Kite pub around a mile away, fantastic food and a family friendly atmosphere.

Too noisy rooms (especially during the weekend), very bad customer service (most staff don't smile, duty manager doesn't care about complaints) swimming/spa requires additional charge and pre-booking, food in the restaurant is not good and overpriced

Great quick visit to the cathedral as closing an hour after we arrived. Stunning interior with view of peregrines on spire (visible and via webcam). City was clean and sunny. Lots of restaurant choices - we went for the Slap & Pickle concession in The Counting House (hands down all three of us said it was the best burger we’d had). The sandstone buildings are stunning. Sadly didn’t have time to visit the Hepworth or YSP but will be back .

The fact that it was a GREENE KING, i would gladly stay in a Greene King run hotel anytime. The staff were very friendly and you could tell the place had a lot of history. It was a well used Wedding Venue from what I could see and with good reason too. It had amazing scenery, massive eating and dining areas and probably looked stunning in wedding photos

Friendly staff. Tastefully decorated. Pretty garden, loved the trees. Hotel 'tired' in some areas but maybe this added to the charm. Dog friendly which is a HUGE bonus around the Wakefield area. We had a very nice time. Thank you.
