Motivated by internet we chose Tomaten distillery for our own impression and to try their products. On the way to Tomaten we also checked out a number of other destilleries and therefore were able to have our own comparison done.
The consequence was: Tomatein was not really worth the visit. Guest area was neither cosy or offered an area where you could stay and try. Much better experience (and Whiskies) including free trial of ALL bottles can be found for example in Glenlivet on the way...

Made most welcome, home from home.
Made most welcome, home from home. Staff, service excellent, made to feel like part of the family. Lovely relaxed and friendly, good care and attention. Nicely secluded with major facilities a short drive away. Never used by us as they provided everything we required.
Great location just off the A9 and close to Tomatin distillery for an overnight break of journey (I was on my way to Orkney). Friendly host, comfortable room and excellent breakfast. What more could you want? I would fully recommend and will certainly return next time I'm up their way.
If you arrive early enough you can park outside the guest house and take the five minute walk to the distillery for a tasting session!
We recently stayed at Glenan Lodge, Tomatin in Scotland. We were welcomed warmly and shown our accommodation by the most obliging and pleasant staff. The Lodge was in a delightful stone building and well appointed. Our bedroom was comfortable and we slept very well, and we appreciated the breakfast which set us up for the day. The owner, Kay, was most kind and helpful and made us feel at home. Thankyou.
Good things first: Whoever plans to pay a visit to Tomatins distillery and prefers a place to stay nearby for a reasonable budget without having high expectations has found the right place. Glenan Lodge is very close by, entire staff is very friendly and helpful and for the price you receive a spacy room including shower and a breakfast with eggs, salmon etc.. if you like..
Brilliant little B&B. Kay and her staff were fantastic. We used Tomatin as a base to explore the Highlands and Glenan Lodge was like a true home each night we returned. Drinks in the dinning room, stories shared of a day's travels. Just comfy all around. Breakfast fry-up was excellent. No complaints and will look to return again.
It's was an ideal location only 25mins drive to Inverness and Aviemore. The studio was amazing spotless and beautiful deco etc. Maureen was so nice to us and very helpful would definitely recommend this to anyone. Tomatin is a very peaceful place and lovely scenery, also it is dog friendly.
well maintained one bedroom apartment with all necessary stuff, kitchen with all appliances, shower and bedroom upstairs. outstanding hospitality, Tomatin distillery in walking distance. we’re quite.
definitely will come back

pet friendly
The room was comfortable and clean, with a decent sized bathroom. The bar was great bonus, Whisky from the distillery next door and excellent scottish cider. We could also get evening dinner, at the hotel, without having to travel into Inverness. Great hostess
Very conveniently positioned just off the A9 just south of Inverness. Accessed through the Tomatin distillery. Very remote location in the woods so nice and quiet. Bed was comfortable and the room was warm.
Breakfast was great!
Staff was very friendly and helpful, they accommodated our specific needs for food allergies
Breakfast was fantastic, and dinner was very nice
Tomatin distillery is within walking distance
The location was great with lovely walks nearby and Tomatin Distillery next door, but this was an overnight stop on our way to Isle of Lewis. I even saw my first grouse.
Great location on the road north to the far north west. Quiet tranquil location and perfect for an evenings rest. Hotel price was great value, food less so I’m afraid.
