Friendly staff. Reasoable priced hotel 2 miles from scrabster ferry to Orkeney. We were given massive room with 2 settees on front of hotel.!! And massive disabled bathroom . Clean enough. Meal in restaurant was good and reasonably priced . Breakfast was good too. Motorbike friendly although bikes parked opposite hotel on road . Seemed secure enough but we locked bikes up and i put cover on mine.
Very close to Thurso Train Station, this hotel has free Wi-Fi, free public parking and comfortable rooms with Freeview TV. Station Hotel serves fine Scottish meat cooked in a traditional style.

I love Thurso, I have visited regular over the last 55 years.I initially visited as a child with my parents to then visit as a young adult. I continued visiting with my own children visiting the local with visiting my family who live in Thurso and have lots of happy memories. Lots to do and see, locals are friendly and the prices are reasonable for meals, bar lunches, coffee and cake.

We had a car so it was easy to get to the places we wanted to go. Thurso is a lovely town and has everything you need and is a good base to go and see other things too provided you have your own transport.

Thurso has the most wonderful museum, which is most definitely worth making time to visit. Its obviously had some decent funding and is extremely informative and well laid out. There are some fascinating Pictish exhibits and a really interesting historical film about the region throughout the past 2000 years. It really is one of the best museums I have ever visited.
There are a small number of free parking spaces out front.

People friendly and everybody relaxed it seemed.
People friendly and everybody relaxed it seemed. Quiet and peaceful if windswept and a bit bleak in bad weather. Very interesting history and sites to visit. Excellent museum with fascinating display in Dounreay vuvlear power station and standing stones. Also the ruined St. Peter’s Kirk a must see and be sure to meet Maureen the guide who will tell you all about it. All the shops you could need for supplies with Tesco and Coop close to centre. Restaurants and take always plentiful. I don’t drink so can’t comment on pubs but there are ample. Town clean - no litter, dog crap or graffiti. Handy for Orkney ferry. Loved it. Mikhail

Thurso is almost a necessary stop when doing the NC500.
Thurso is almost a necessary stop when doing the NC500. It was very quiet and in my opinion tired and run down. We ate at the "Y not" and if asked - I would say Y not go somewhere else. The food was bland and looked like it been under the heat lamp for ages. The waitress forgot my starter so that didn't happen and the steak was straight out of the freezer, over cooked and tasteless. This doesn't mean on another night they could get it right. It seamed busy but the restaurant choices arnt vast which might explain why. Our friends stayed at the Weigh inn and were happy with their stay. We didnt see much of the town other than stopping in Invictus for a drink on the high st where the staff there were almost friendly - we are English after all. A warm welcome wasn't on a plate for a lot of our journey. The hotel Invictus was attached to looked nice but again not a lot of choice and this was full when we looked in May although I didnt see a guest arrive or leave.
Actually I was being transferred to the Station Hotel as St Clair Hotel did not have the room I'm looking forward to stay in. However, the staying experience is actually not bad at all.
The size of the room is very big (it is a 3 beds bedroom), and it is very close to the railway station. At the same time, the staff of the hotel are very nice and they serve pretty well.
For the dining service of the hotel, they offer breakfast and dinner for the customers. The food they serve is also wonderful.
Our expectations were not high….this was the cheapest hotel for our tour of Scotland….we had enjoyed one excellent hotel but the night before this hotel, we had a poor experience. I arrived expecting the worse. The staff advised us to park at th3 back, near the door to the hotel as I said we were old and creaky. Our chalet was immaculate. The shower room great, two very comfy beds. We had supper at the hotel and breakfast, which was the best yet!
Great location in the centre of Thurso. Breakfast was simple but good. There is a bar and restaurant inside the hotel, which is very convenient for dinner and drinks. Room was basic but decent value for money.
