Rooms where excellent for a pub, food was exceptional (would recommend the garlic mushroom starter) room was lovely, bed very comfortable, staff where excellent and very friendly, thankyou Steve for our wee natters, Abbie the waitress was very attentive, with excellent customer skills for her age, actually both waitresses were excellent.

Room smelt very bad of dog urine, presumably from the soaked and dried into carpet. Asked to change rooms receptionist very defensive and unhelpful, lady manager called in and she was very helpful. This is a very run down hotel and the rooms / carpets not very clean. Wouldn’t recommend, poor value.
We stayed at Wheatsheaf Hotel, and it was superb. Swinton is a very small, remote village in the Scottish borders. It appears on this, our first visit, to be sleepy and have little to do, but this was in January so it is probably not a true reflection. There are, however, a number of bigger towns within a reasonably short drive. so a car is essential to get about.
Good location for us.Welcoming and lovely staff. Room nice and comfy and clean. Lovely big deep bath in bathroom ! Good food. Most important for us to have dog friendly rooms as our dogs go everywhere with us ..... and a big plus a hotel that allows more than one dog per room!! Dogs also allowed in the bar and tables can be set for dinning just off the bar area where your dog can join you.
Beautiful location, garden was lovely. House was an amazing warren of interesting rooms for the kids to explore. Lots of sofas for lounging about in the evening. The kitchen was big enough to cook big dinners for everyone and sit down at the big kitchen table to eat. Lovely views from all the windows. Nice little pub just along the road in Swinton with a beer garden.
Excellent breakfast. Perfect location for our fishing trip. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Excellent wine list. Very comfortable bed. Perfectly located for our fishing trip. All round great value for money. We will definitely return to this hotel.
An absolutely superb hotel for a holiday. Exceptionally friendly welcome, and shown to a nice big room with a comfy bed and a couple of easy chairs. Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant - both were superb. Service was excellent throughout.
Lovely country hotel in a small village, just a few miles to coast or places of interest.
Comfortable room, nicely furnished. Very dog friendly. Excellent menu, not too expensive. If we lived closer we’d use it regularly.
