We liked the food as it was Steak night, excellent value and quality, breakfast was buffet and well stocked. Castletown is a good base for exploring the area.

We booked this place because we were doing the NC500 route on a trike and the hot tub sounded like a wonderful idea after three days of riding. We were completely blown away by the outstanding quality and palatial size of the chalet, it far exceeded our expectations, as did the lovely people!
The site is just 15-minutes along the north coast from John O'Groats, overlooking Dunnet Bay toward Castletown. There are just two chalets and the main house on the site, which meant it was ever so peaceful.
Despite it beginning to rain as we arrived, we were soon in the outdoor hot tub, after a quick introductory tour by our friendly host John. An hour in the hot tub looking out across the bay soon eased the aches and pains of the day's travel and we followed it up with a lovely relaxing evening in our fabulous 5-star chalet.
The bed was also 5-star and we slept like babies.
In the morning our breakfast was delivered to the chalet by our lovely hostess Sheila, and that too exceeded our expectations. The porridge served with fresh cream and honey has now become a regular favourite at home and the cooked breakfast (mine was vegetarian) was both generous and excellent.
We really could not recommend this place highly enough, and we hope to stay there again if the opportunity presents itself.
Offering a garden and garden view, Windhaven Camping and B&B is situated in Thurso, 25 km from Sinclair's Bay and 10 km from The Castle Gardens of Mey.

The staff were very helpful with good knowledge of the local area. The rooms are clean and tidy and pretty much the same as the photographs. The location is excellent with good view of the sea and a place to sit right at the edge of cliff! The breakfast was excellent and those who looked after us very helpful and friendly!

The proprietors couldn't do enough to help. Great room and breakfast, which was prepared early due to our early ferry. Very accommodating of our dog.

A lovely warm and cosy house , and beautiful too.
The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are spotless .
Off road parking , 2 minutes walk into town . Quiet location .
It was convenient for where we wanted to visit. Things listed as part of the rental eg barbecue, tumble drier, coffee machine had to be paid for, no sea view. Ran out of essentials like toilet roll, wash up liquid, kitchen roll. Over priced.

If you stay in a house on the front, you get a lovely view if the sea and across to Orkney on a clear day. From Skarfskerry you can get to John o groats and down the east coast or you can can go west to many places. It is also just down the road from the castle Mey,owned by the Queen Mother. Go to the restaurant at Scrabster, lovely meals there. Avoid the van at John o groats for food. The fish n chips we got was frozen and awful. Go to Broughs Bay on the way to Dunnet head and you will see lots if seals. Hopefully you will see puffins at Dunnet head too.

It was an ideal location to stop off after day one of NC500 going anti clockwise. Close to lovely beach and supermarket in Thurso. Also close to John O Groats. We drove from here to the Dunnet Head lighthouse which was also close.
