Lovely hotel in an *amazing* location overlooking the Solway. The Powfoot Hotel is charming and remote and overlooks both stunning tidelands (and Cumbria in the distance) and a lovely golf course. It makes a great base for exploring this under-visited piece of Scotland. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic, and the staff were very helpful. The lounge and balcony on the 1st floor (2nd floor US) was deliciously peaceful and offered stunning views.
The Corner House Hotel is located in Annan, 15.4 miles from Dumfries. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Free private parking is available on site.

Annan is a lovely little town and the Cornerhouse has very welcoming and accommodating staff. Our room was bigger than expected and very clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a large bathroom, also very clean. The facilities include a cafe and bar which we didn't use as we were out most of the day, but the breakfast was lovely. No problems with parking but noting it is behind the pub next door. It has a little local cinema just around the corner which was a fun break from the normal sightseeing. I loved the architecture in the town.

Rooms were clean and comfortable and spacious. Friendly staff. Free coffee and toast provided in the morning was a nice touch.

Beautiful grounds, building and facilities. Service from all staff was exceptional. Breakfast was excellent and staff were very accommodating for fussy kids. We loved it here so much we returned after a few days to stay again.

Friendly welcome, very nice quiet room with attractive decoration.
Evening meal was very enjoyable, the steak pie and lasagne being of high quality. Good cask ale too.
Breakfast was excellent. The bacon, sausages and egg were good quality. We appreciated the opportunity to make our choice the night before.
Overall it was hard to fault the place and we will return.

I liked the fact that it was near the town centre and restaurants.
A late Victorian mansion, Somerton House Hotel bears the distinctive red sandstone like much of the buildings within the town of Lockerbie.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here - always made very welcome. Immaculate room, great food and the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve slept in in ages!
Also, great location just of the M74
