Peebles is a lovely little town in a wonderful location.
Peebles is a lovely little town in a wonderful location. Lots of places to eat and decent pubs and an excellent variety of shops, including a little department store and decent bookshops. Really nice architecture. There is a good museum, and library, including a place for researching family history. The writer John Buchan had family links there and the John Buchan Story exhibition describes his amazing life, including his literary career, political life and Governor-Generalship of Canada. And there is a good theatre.
Near to Peebles is Traquair House, a stunning Lowlands house, once a hunting lodge. Peebles is also close to beautiful countryside including the river Tweed, several small border abbey towns and buildings associated with Border Reivers.
It is an excellent and interesting area, often overlooked by people who just see the Border Country as somewhere to get through to reach, Edinburgh and the highlands and islands. They are missing a lot.

Hotel, somewhat run down. Bed comfy. Views fantastic.
Hotel, somewhat run down. Bed comfy. Views fantastic. Food at dinner great. Staff - young lads would benefit from some customer service training. Would I stay again - probably not as did not get 4 star experience. I would rate hotel as 3 star. Town nice - quaint.

Peebles is a great little town with lots of charm.
Peebles is a great little town with lots of charm. We would recommend The Crown Hotel as a great choice for dining throughout the day. There are several art shops and various exhibitions available with free admission. There are three supermarkets in the town and plenty of other shopping opportunities including several charity shops. We enjoyed walking along the riverside on a sunny day. There is a swimming pool in the town - perfect for adults and kids on a rainy day.

Lovely town. Lots of good walks. Nice shops.
Lovely town. Lots of good walks. Nice shops. You can get the bus to other Border towns and through to Edinburgh. Check out the Eastgate theatre. Bridge Inn is a great pub in the town beside the river. Avoid the Crown Hotel for food, very disappointing.

We liked the very welcoming community.
We liked the very welcoming community. The river was beautiful and the churches were impressive. Very scenic. Could do with more public loos being open and those that were open were expensive.
Some interesting looking restaurants. People's mural interesting. Some lovely little craft shops.
Traditional styled, busy hotel in the centre of Peebles. Fantastic welcome every time I have stayed. Excellent staff who cannot do enough to help. Service with a smile and a chat. Such a credit. Very comfortable bed. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. Breakfast has everything you could want, plentiful and absolutely delicious. The food here is amazing….steak pie is a must have and highly recommended!
The hotel is very easy to find and is located a brief walk from the centre of Peebles. Parking is ample, and there is a charging point for electric vehicles which allowed me to leave with a full battery. The hotel is very welcoming, clean and comfortable.
Good food, breakfast portions were very generous and very friendly helpful staff. Hotel is situated right in the middle of the high street so very well appointed
