The sights and view were excellent and having a fire right next to your cabin was amazing. A great experience and a nice introduction to permaculture. I wish more places were as friendly and considerate as here
Kinloch Lodge Hotel and Restaurant is a family-run former 17th-century hunting lodge, situated at the foot of a long private drive up Kinloch Hill on the shoreline of Loch Na Dal.
I suppose it's handy for the Ferry. Since we were there a few years ago we felt it had gone not so friendly. We didn't see our hostess, only when she came for the money. Very impersonal. No food option. Hotel up the brae was nice for food. Let ourselves out the next morning. Felt it was a couldn't be bothered attitude. Wouldn't go again. Probably wouldn't visit Mallaig again.

Mallaig is an interesting place for a couple of days...a working harbour and small town with some tourist facilities. The ferry to Skye leaves from here several times a day and you can take boat trips from Mallaig itself. There are a couple of short local walks which are worth doing.
There's several eateries including a pub up the hill that does great pub grub and delicious cider and a take away fish and chip place.
The arrival by train along a beautiful scenic railway line is memorable...I think 2 days is long enough here though!

Loved the harbour area which has a lot of activity. Excellent bakers nearby as well as fish and chips restaurants and a delightful pizzeria. Also The Horsebox just up the road from the harbour - lovely coffees and cakes.

Gorgeous part of the Highlands with good transport links !
Gorgeous part of the Highlands with good transport links ! Ferries and Trains ! The train journey is spectacular and worth every Penny and minute of the 5 hours from Glasgow or 2 hours plus from Fort William … I’m not a train spotter by any means or a Harry Potter fan but this journey as always been on my travel bucket list and did not disappoint!
Good bar / restaurant … great value great food at the top of the hill and friendly locals !! Be aware as you’d expect not a lot open in the depths of winter!! But enough and how I personally like it !!

The scenery was breathtaking, locals so friendly and helpful. Only downside several places were closed due to staff shortages.
Hotel was fantastic but the staff, the two Fiona's and Pawel were wonderful, above and beyond helpful
My second stay here over the years and just love this place. Rooms are modern, unfussy, comfortable, and immaculately clean. Located right in the center of Mallaig a short walk to the train, ferry, and restaurants. Blazing-fast internet. I remember the breakfast being excellent in the past and was sorry to miss it this time (catching a 6 am train). Took a room with an external but still private bathroom, and it was excellent value for money.
Location is great right in the heart of Mallaig. The Inn seems to be one of the main social venues in the village and was full of locals and tourists which gave it a nice vibe. The dinner menu has a superb variety of dishes available at reasonable prices. My group of friends (18 of us) all enjoyed our evening meal and drinks there. Very handy location for a stop over if getting the ferry to or from Armadale on Skye. Breakfast was ok too.
I had planned to stay in Fort William but due to some interruptions with the ferry schedule to Skye, had to be in Mallaig first thing in the am to catch the passenger only ferry to Armadale. This meant a night in Mallaig. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was quiet and clean. Right next to grocery store, train station and ferry terminal so can't go wrong with the location.
Probably the biggest hotel in Mallaig. It sits atop a wee hill with a large outdoor terrace and sun room overlooking the coast. The Isles of Eigg , Rum and Skye clearly in sight both from the front of the hotel and our room. Breakfast room was large and spacious with sea views and the grub was braw with tasty black and haggis puddings and all the usual stuff youd expect.
Our room was modern, scrupulously clean and provided a view over the port. The bed was very comfortable. The host was very friendly and informative and provided a great breakfast. Ìf there is a vacancy ìn the future we'll be back. We confidently recommend the guesthousep to anyone visiting Mallaig. You won't be disappointed.
Nice warm and friendly welcome. Clean room, and in a great location. Was passing through Mallaig enroute to Outer Hebrides so only stayed the one night. I didn't use the kitchen facilities but looked substantial for those wishing to use it, and there was a nice big washroom facility.
Harbor and sea views from our room.
Friendly staff.
Perfect location for trains and ferries.
Dog friendly.
The kitchen area with cooking facilities were a plus.
Affordable given its in central Mallaig where there's generally a shortage of (overpriced) accommodation.
The breakfast was enormous and freshly cooked with a good choice of items. The restaurant served excellent evening meals as well. Check-in was simple but be aware that you need to go outside and up a set of stairs to access the accommodation.
Perfect size and location, had everything we needed. They even provided oat milk for tea when I messaged to say we were vegan! We only stayed a few nights but feel like we got a lot out of Mallaig - and would definitely come back 😊
The location was incredible - right in the middle of Mallaig next to the port and all the restaurants. It was fun that the flat is an old bank - it gave it additional charm! It was such a comfortable place to stay in Mallaig.
Perfect place to stay in Mallaig. Helpful getting luggage up and downstairs. Staff also helpful with my scheduling error. Very friendly and understanding. Breakfast was good. Close to train and restaurants.
The proximity of the lovely, quiet, beaches was wonderful. Fantastic for a beach based holiday and very close to Mallaig, which has a good few things to offer for a peaceful holiday.
This was my favourite stay on my entire 12 day trip to Scotland. The host was so helpful, the pod was so comfy, and the view was unbeatable. Don't hesitate to stay here.
