We called into the Buccleuch on a previous stay to Moffat and we were so impressed on how friendly the family who run this hotel are - we decided to stay on our next visit to this charming town and we weren’t disappointed- in fact we had a most delightful stay. We are motorcyclists everything you could possibly need for your trip has been thoughtfully planned and provided by the wonderful team here, from individual garages for the bikes to cleaning facilities and a power wash station. What struck us - was how the staff communicate with each other- and how well run the hotel is - Dave the owner was always on hand and ensured our stay was comfortable and expertly organised - from the warm welcome we received at check in, to the friendly bar (where we met some great people on their travels) and dining experience, to our smooth check out! I have to say it’s impressively geared up for visitors on two wheels, but all guests were well looked after and treated with respectful, friendly banter and a genuine desire to provide you with the best service possible ! Bedding is spotless and a really comfortable bed. Great shower !! Good hospitality tray. The breakfast was amazing - I’d even go as far to say it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had !! (Vegetarian breakfast - it’s was DELICIOUS, I’m not a vegetarian - it was amazing) beautifully presented too. We also enjoyed two evening meals here and again delicious and a lovely ambiance in the dining room. Another lovely touch was complimentary still or sparkling refrigerated water. Ohh and a daily lottery ticket left in the bed - which was a lovely gift idea ! We will most definitely be returning to this delightful hotel. What makes it exceptional is the team who run it and we’d highly recommend it!

The staff were really friendly and welcoming, helping us to get checked in quickly. The evening meal was good with a reasonable amount of choice. The breakfast was awesome, amazing porridge and a good veggie option was really appreciated. The room was ok, really spacious and clean. It was a bit tired and above the kitchen so there was a bit of noise from there. But the price was great and the friendliness of the staff made up for that. The location was great for breaking up a long drive to Glasgow airport without being on a motorway.

Excellent food, quiet tranquil large room, friendly staff

Easy parking. Polite reception and easy check-in. Room ready early, so great check-in. Lovely room, everything you need. Great bathroom - shower control a bit of hard work. We ate in the dining room, which again was lovely, and the food was excellent. There were even local musicians playing in the lounge bar in the evening. Same again with breakfast- all in all, a great stay at a really lovely hotel.

Everything location in centre of village. Atmosphere in hotel,food choice of drinks. Cottage all of it brill.

Location is excellent. The breakfast was monumental. The staff were very friendly.

If was in a great location, the staff was attentive and welcoming. My dogs erected made to feel very welcome too 🐾

Breakfast excellent good choice

Spotlessly clean, really comfortable bed, charming hosts and an excellent breakfast. We really enjoyed the home baked millionaire’s shortbread too! A nice surprise on arrival.
