The Potting Shed And The Garden Shed Self Catering, hotel in Llangain

Set in its own grounds only 3 miles from Carmarthen Castle, The Potting Shed And The Garden Shed Self Catering features accommodation with a large fenced garden and 2 paddocks.

The Potting Shed massively exceeded our expectations. It is excellent value for money. The enclosed private garden for the cabin is huge. We enjoyed sitting on the deck on the provided garden furniture and our dog loved doing zoomies around the garden. The cabin is very spacious and well equipped and the bed is incredibly comfortable. We’d have happily stayed for several days and will definitely be back. Everything was high quality from the lovely soft bedding to the fluffy towels in the bathroom. We only stayed one night but the dishwasher and freezer would be very handy had we been there longer. We had lots of plans away from the accommodation but both agreed we’d happily come in future just to spend time in the lovely cabin and its beautiful garden.

Llangain is ideal to combine a tranquil retreat with a centre for exploring a wide scenic area stretching from Kidwelly to Tenby and beyond, and also to visit the upper Towy valley perhaps as far as the Llyn Brianne reservoir. Everywhere there are interesting castles - if you have time do not miss my favourite castle at Manorbier, and Laugharne where Dylan Thomas lived (when he wasn't drinking at my Nana's pub in Swansea). Carmarthen has an excellent market - you should be able to get laverbread (baralawr) - it might look like fresh cowpat but it's lovely - ask how to cook it - local recipes vary. Bara brith is everywhere, just like my Nana made. And if you get the chance to go to a real Welsh folk experience - a 'gymanfa ganu' - a sort of chapel sing-in - then you must go.
