Staff were all amazing, rooms were great. Food was exceptional. Was a bit hot but I can't imagine that being an issue for the other 99.9% of the year. Sound from the pub might be a concern for some but it was very quiet in our room, didn't hear the noise from the pub at all.

Location is absolutely amazing! Close to the lake and palace, very lovely walk. Kitchen was well-equipped. There was some problem with hot water, but host contacted me in advance and offered several alternative ways to deal with it. I really appreciate how well it was sorted in the end.
In beautiful, peaceful grounds, between Edinburgh and Glasgow, this 4-star hotel is rich in historic charm, with a restaurant, a bar and great leisure facilities, including an 18-metre swimming pool.

Ideal location in beautiful surroundings was a great distraction, and the close proximity to veterinary specialists Scotland where our dog was in critical care.

You must visit the Linlithgow Palace! The streets in Linlithgow are walkable, so that's nice. Be aware whenever you are anywhere in Scotland on a Monday, restaurants and shops may be closed (I ran into this all over each Monday). Otherwise, Linlithgow is a quaint town with rich history. Go!

Enjoyed exploring this historic town. Visited the Palace and the museum and the canal basin during our short stay. Next time we would like to walk round the lake and explore the area more. There seemed to be lots of nice looking cafes, restaurants and pubs too.

Unfortunately the magnificent Palace was closed for repairs but the loch, town and canal were as lovely as ever. I have previously stayed in Linlithgow and remember it well from my boyhood in Edinburgh. The glorious cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling are quickly reached by train but Linlithgow is of course well worth visiting in its own right. You will soon find your own favourite cafes and restaurants and remember the unique sound of car tyres on cobbled streets! So get your morninng rolls and come here. Enjoy.

A great place to enjoy walking around and to follow the trails offered. The Palace and the Peel, the loch and the pavement cafes were our favourites.
We had some take-away and also a meal in the Star and Garter but there was really so much choice of eating places it depended on how busy it was at certain times. Unfortunately, the Palace was undergoing some building work so was not open. It is worth walking up to see the Union Canal basin, all run by volunteers.
It is a friendly and welcoming town.
Our host was amazing. She provided us with so much information and she was kind enough to let us check in early after our flight was cancelled. We found a wonderful supply of super ingredients for breakfast in the fridge. It was great to have so much space on our last day in Scotland. I would recommend this accommodation to everybody!! The beds were comfy and we had two bathrooms, a kitchen and two bedrooms. The location is brilliant and we loved being in the countryside away from the noise. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!!
The hotel staff were very kind. They greeted us with a smile and shared the necessary information with us. The room was comfortable. We really liked the overall ambiance of the hotel. There was a restaurant and bar downstairs, and the food and drinks were quite good. Rather than staying in luxurious, detached, and impersonal hotels, it's satisfying to be somewhere you can feel comfortable, where the staff makes you feel at ease. Breakfast was included and was very good. Thanks so much for everything!
Absolutely wonderful stay. The sheperd's hut and the location was very clean, the bed very comfortable and the shower was spacious and worked really well. The hosts made us feel welcome, we had fresh eggs, milk, croissants and jam waiting for us upon arrival. It is centrally located and can be used as a hub going to Edinburgh, Stirling and all the other many sights in the Linlithgow area. We can definitely recommend the sheperd's hut.
Oh my goodness, we absolutely love this apartment! Everything you could possibly need or want was provided and it was situated in such a beautiful area too. The bus stop to Edinburgh is on the main road in front of the apartment complex and it’s also easy to get into nearby Linlithgow town. Everything was perfect, spotlessly clean, well maintained, warm and welcoming and felt just like a home from home. Cannot recommend highly enough.
The whole experience was superb. We loved our stay and will be returning.
The standard of accommodation and location is outstanding. Exceptionally clean and well equipped.
The hosts were really welcoming and we appreciated the freshly made goodies that were left in the apartment for us.
Excellent base for visiting the local area and for visiting Edinburgh.
100% recommend.
Easy to find. Spotlessly clean, very cosy and comfortable with everything needed for a staycation. Excellent hosts, good communication prior to our stay, welcome pack a nice surprise, as was offer of fresh eggs daily. Very quiet, rural location but also superb for getting to lochs, Edinburgh and Glasgow easily by car. easy safe car parking on site and nice private outdoor seating area.
The fireplace, the staff, especially Caren, and the food! Carin welcomed us after a long day of driving in the rain. She was kind and very attentive. The fire warmed us nicely and the Sunday dinner was AMAZING! We had dinner several hours later with wonderful drinks and delicious food once again. Will recommend to friends. Easy access to Edinburgh Airport in a lovely town.
hotel very close to railway station but trains did not run during the night.room was very clean and public areas were the same, staff were continuosly wiping down surfaces.large choice for the breakfast menu with full english more than enough tokeep you going all day.all the staff made you feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble for them.
Everything was perfect. This is a beautiful old building, so full of character & yet my apartment was so modern & well equipped. It was so warm & cozy, beautifully furnishings & lighting; 2 flat screen TVs; well equipped kitchen, gorgeous bathroom. Perfect location in a charming little town. I loved every minute of my stay in this hotel.
Location, Location, Location, The Hotel Is On The Main High Street. Lot's of outside Dining Options Available. There Is A Tesco Nearby For Grocery Shopping. Internet Was Very Good. Room Had Smart TV With Netflix etc. etc. Room had a very modern look and must have had a Refurb not soo long ago as it looked Brand New...
Warm, cozy and very well appointed. A beautiful place to stay if you wish to explore the area. Car parking provided and a direct bus which goes every half hour straight into Edinburgh. Sad to leave but will definitely recommend it (and return if in the area again)
This bed and breakfast was a dream. The service, cleanliness and friendly atmosphere are unmatched. The location was close to everything we wanted to visit( within 30 minutes). We will definitely come back if we are ever back in Scotland. Thank you again!
Lovely 3 bedroom apartment in Linlithgow, close to train station, shops, pub’s & restaurants. Close to the Loch & the Palace….unfortunately closed at the moment for some renovations, going to have to book a forth visit to hopefully get into the Palace.
This was our first visit to Linlithgow. The flat was situated in a good location in the town, within walking distance of the high street and family and friends. A high standard of fixtures and fittings in the flat made it feel hotel standard.
Our stay at Arden Country House was one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. Everything about our stay was first rate. It is easily the best place we’ve stayed during our 4 week trip thru Iceland, Ireland and Scotland.
We felt at home in this quaint and quiet apartment. Close to glasgow and edinburgh, and a couple minutes to town.
The interior and exterior are well maintained. The jacuzzi tub with television is a nice retreat.
Loved the area, enjoyed the walk along the loch to the palace and learned some history. Also enjoyed the town with the pavement eating and drinking, the cobbled main road and the proximity to the railway station.
Very nice hotel with an excellent bar/restaurant. and both very reasonably priced. It’s very convenient to the Edinburgh airport and a way better option price wise than staying at the airport.
