The property is well positioned close to the centre of Lerwick with ample street parking. It was fully equipped, meticulously clean, the beds were comfortable and offered good value for money. Run as a family business they certainly take pride in their investment and without being intrusive ensure all you needs are met. Excellent accommodation.

Most helpful by arranging a continental breakfast before our 6:40 departure for the flight home from Sumburgh.

I was in Lerwick during a stretch of unpleasant weather - cold and rainy with strong winds sometimes gusting at gale force. I would not recommend October or probably not winter. I will return, but next time in May or June! The city and surrounding towns are worth the visit. Next time I make the journey I will go to Kirkwall, too,

This is where you need to base if you want to explore the Shetland Islands. We found a great tour guide who took us all the way to the northern end of Unst and with his 40+ year history on the island was a wealth of information. Message me if you want his contact info.
We also did one of the wildlife boat tours which was great!

We very much enjoyed seabird watching tour departing from the small boat ferry port in Lerwick, which is really recommended! We brought a car rented at Aberdeen to Orkney/Shetland by ferries and it was nicely worked. Taking your own car is recommend as the great bird watching and archaeological sites are far away from Lerwick. Unfortunately the puffin season was over when we were in the Orkney/Shetland. I would like to visit again to see puffins!

Lerwick, well known to many people because of the TV series 'Shetland', is a charming town with many interesting features. Most importantly, the people are very friendly and welcoming to visitors, a good thing as during the summer months it is a regular stop off for cruise ships.
The town centre is tucked just behind the sea front and contains interesting local shops, cafes and restaurants. Our favourite was 'The Dowry', which has great food and excellent coffee. Visit Fort Charlotte, take a walk around the Nab for breathtaking views, catch a ferry across the sound to the island of Bressay, peruse the outstanding (and free) Shetland Museum or walk out of town to explore the ancient Broch of Clickimin. Of course, there is also a tour of the locations used to film 'Shetland'.

Lerwick is a great base for shorter excursions around the islands. We could have stayed longer for more hiking and half/full day visits. Shetland has a lot to offer. The nature is outstanding and people are very friendly.
We really enjoyed our tour with Lara Thomason who guided us around south Shetland and took us the the north west cliffs of Shetland. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to hang with. Next time it will be for hiking!

A lovely place with plenty to do.
A lovely place with plenty to do. Those of you who want to relax can enjoy the amazing scenery and wildlife from many locations around Lerwick and even when having a coffee or eating dinner at some of the locations.
The rooms we booked were very clean and comfortable. There was an excellent choice for breakfast ranging from a continental to the full works. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay advising on things to see and how to get there. During our stay we had a couple of evening Thai meals, the food was delicious. The hotel is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the centre, however if you are coming by ferry, I'd suggest you organise a taxi from the terminal as its a good 40 minute walk.
Breakfast - good selection, bacon and kippers particularly good although the kippers appeared to have run out after a couple of days.
Hotel was nice and warm throughout.
Staff very friendly and generally helpful.
Great view of the ferries coming and going from our room.
Plenty of parking for our hire car.
The apartment was very well appointed. We had everything we needed. Including TV and WiFi.
It was clean and comfortable.
There was a washing machine and outside drying area if required.
The location was good, only a few minutes from the centre if Lerwick.
It had private parking.
Plus a little welcome pack.
The room was large and very comfortable and the blackout blinds (didn't really get dark when visiting) were brilliant for a good night sleep. The guest house was nice and close to the centre of Lerwick so it was easy to get about. The breakfast was more than we expected, and Allana and Tony were lovely.
Loved my wee single room, was lovely and clean, comfy bed, huge tv on wall, ensuite shower which was great. On the ground floor, which was even better! Lovely friendly staff, great breakfast too, would highly recommend Solheim Guest House to anyone coming to visit Lerwick.
Amazing B&B in the center of Lerwick, close to everything. Clean and newly renovated. Room was spacious and comfortable. Lynette the host is fabulous very knowledgeable about the area and really welcoming. Will definitely go back.
The apartment was warm, clean and well equipped. It was also pretty central in Lerwick so we walked to most places we wanted to go to. There was supplies left in the kitchen which was nice too. We would rent again if available.
Everything! The owners and staff were warm and friendly, our room was large, comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Our four night stay was the highlight of our two week visit to Scotland.
Great position in the town, clean , tidy and comfortable. Fantastic and helpful hosts. I would relish the opportunity to stay again, and would recommend to anytime visiting Lerwick!
