The Gilvenbank Hotel, hotel in Ladybank

Situated in Glenrothes, 31 km from St Andrews University, The Gilvenbank Hotel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Caring staff who enjoyed their jobs. Staff were wonderful and I was unfortunate to fall in the lounge bar twisting my ankle. The waitress who had looked after us had finished her shift but leapt up to assist me and was very concerned checking that I was ok.

The Fig Tree Markinch, Glenrothes, hotel in Ladybank

Situated in Markinch and with St Andrews University reachable within 32 km, The Fig Tree Markinch, Glenrothes features a terrace, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was left thoroughly disappointed. First of all, the advertising is completely misleading. They boast about luxurious amenities, but in reality, the shower facilities are subpar at best. The water pressure was terrible, and the temperature fluctuated constantly, making it nearly impossible to enjoy a decent shower. The management is another issue—they're dishonest and seem completely unbothered by the state of their hotel. I brought up several concerns, and while they agreed to refund me due to the poor experience, I'm still waiting for that refund weeks later with no resolution in sight. The noise levels are unbearable. Every night, there was loud music and shouting until the early hours of the morning, making it impossible to get any sleep. It felt more like a nightclub than a hotel. The cleanliness of the hotel is appalling. The floors were filthy, and worst of all, they didn’t even bother to change the bed sheets! It was obvious that the room hadn’t been properly cleaned before my stay. All in all, this place is a disaster. Avoid it if you value cleanliness, honesty, and a good night's rest. And don’t trust their refund promises—I'm still waiting for mine!

The Schoolhouse Cottages, hotel in Ladybank

The Schoolhouse Cottages, a property with a garden, is set in Kingskettle, 23 km from St Andrews University, 26 km from St Andrews Bay, as well as 31 km from Discovery Point.

Everything from start to finish. The property, facilities, location, and the host, more than met my expectations. After trawling the net for somewhere to stay and almost giving up due to most being very greedy for a lot less than this, I was so happy that this came available for us. I highly recommend.

Loch Leven was a beautiful place to visit, as was the Scottish Lavendar farm! We were lucky enough to visit when they were open to the public. Great Gold Inn in Ladybank, and an ultra quiet little town. Would visit again for sure

Excellent bed and breakfast facility in a rural setting in a converted farm. Well appointed rooms, extremely comfortable bed and excellent bathroom facilities with both bath and separate shower. The owners were friendly, responsive and helpful in accommodating a number of requests relating to staggered check ins, dietary requirements and additional guidance information on directions etc. As we were attending a family wedding in a historic setting several miles away the location was ideal and we all had a terrific sleep and wonderful full Scottish breakfast to recharge our batteries before heading off.

The location is excellent, near Ladybank for your grocery shopping, or to go on the A92. It's also out in the countryside, so very quiet, we slept like logs. It's not far to St Andrews, or the coast, Falkland Palace 6 miles down the road, etc The bed is very comfortable, one of the best we have encountered. Washing machine, convection oven/microwave present. Really nice owners. Local cockerel doodled dood at a decent hour. Swans and geese flying over. Good hot tub, in screened off area.

This was perfect; a remote location but close to amenities in ladybank and for those that love walking you’ve an abundance of local or close by walks to choose from. The Hot Tub was a perfect way to end the evening; anyone staying here longer than 4 days then place has its own washing/drying facilities to cater for your needs. The lodge itself was immaculate.
