Ballyward Croft, hotel in Kircubbin

Ballyward Croft is a recently renovated holiday home in Ardkeen, where guests can make the most of its open-air bath and garden.

The cottage was perfect and had everything needed for a relaxing break away. It was spotless and beds were very comfortable. The views were beautiful and the host Kerry could not have done anything more to make the stay more special. We really appreciated and loved the special touches she had put in place to make us feel at home. We will definitely be back.

Greystone holiday lets, hotel in Kircubbin

Featuring garden views, Greystone holiday lets provides accommodation with a terrace, around 27 km from SSE Arena. Guests can benefit from a patio and a picnic area.

This is a very difficult one to review because the place is nice and spacious and really clean but it has one MASSIVE issue … there are no blinds / curtain on the roof window in the twin room and it was virtually impossible to sleep in this room. What a shame that the owners couldn’t have put a blind on the window. It was the middle of the summer when we stayed and got in late and then the sun came up at approximately 4.45 and we got virtually no sleep. We even tried draping a towel across the window but it was a pointless move and didn’t help. The double and single rooms were fine

The village is quite small, but it’s convenient, everything is on the street Few pub and restaurant didn’t open on Thursday, chippy closed by 830, but we managed to get some food from Chinese takeaway and supermarket

It is a pretty little village that we used as a base for touring and it is very convenient for the ferry on Strangford Lough being only 15 minutes from Portaferry. It is 15 minutes from Newtownards and 35 from Belfast. The village has a lovely park with a playground and a lake and very pretty scenery on the drive in from the Newtownards side. This is not the place for a foodie to stay as there is only one restaurant and it only is open in the evenings at the weekend. We decided one evening to have a takeaway as we didn't want to go back out that evening and the chinese was closed over an hour before the closing time on the menu and we got some food from the chicken place and it was not cooked properly.
