Lots of little places to walk to and a nice village atmosphere. Some interesting places to drive to nearby, including caves, which I will do next time. There is also a free camping area, with loos, waste dump and fresh water fill up, just around the corner from the Inn.

A charming village / harbour with lots of open countryside and coastal paths to explore along the Scottish coast. Ideal base to explore the most southern tip of this part of Scotland both by foot and car.

It is a part of Scotland that I had never visited before.

It is a part of Scotland that I had never visited before. The scenery is very beautiful and varied. St Ninian was so important to these isles. Whithorn is well worth a visit. Go to see the museum that has so many examples of the Celtic crosses. The Steamboat serves excellent food and locally brewed beers

Lovely scenic working harbour at the heart of the Isle.

Lovely scenic working harbour at the heart of the Isle. Fabulous clifftop walks around either side of the village with lots of wild flowers and wildlife to see. An excellent community cafe with delicious food and shop. The Steam Packet Inn for dining and having a drink is particularly good with lots of fresh fish options and locally brewed craft ale on tap. Lots of history to the village and a perfect place to spend a week, a few days or even a day visit.
