We had a lovely stay in Insch. We ate at the India restaurant downstairs (Cafe Mint) which was fantastic food and great value for money. The little kitchen that was shared between all the rooms was great!

Absolutelly everything, the host was the most warm and attentive person. The whole place was impeccable, with all the amenities you could need and really comfortable. Insch is what you would expect a small Village not far from larger towns and within easy distance of lots of lovely places but you will have to drive unless your on your bikes ? so if you want main shops and bigger towns then there are 2 larger shopping places approximately 5 miles away its really quite nice to be in a lovely rural place and you must remember that this is a farming area so lots of farm tractors ect around the area and we did hear these because we was staying in the middle of a very busy harvest time and really is not an issue and you will not hear them to much while you sit by the beautiful stream that runs at the bottom of the garden at Lilyoak looking out over golden fields you may even be lucky and see some wild life !

We chose the location because it is central to all of the northeastern Scotland National Trust castles, mansions, and gardens we wanted to visit. The only pub in town closed because of the pandemic, but we found good food in the nearby village of Alford.

Insch is a very small town with a few amenities, however the great advantage is that there seemed to be a lot of things to see and do within very short distances, for all ages. The hotel has a comprehensive stand full of information and the hotel are very happy to sort out bookings etc for you. A car is probably best for touring round but the train station is right opposite the hotel (didn't hear the trains at all).
