Maybank Guest House, hotel in Helensburgh

Maybank Guest House, a property with a garden, is situated in Helensburgh, 32 km from Glasgow Botanic Gardens, 33 km from University of Glasgow, as well as 33 km from Riverside Museum of Transport and...

A thoroughly surprising B&B - the owner only takes one booking at a time so you are always the only guests. But you're free to come and go as you please and she's a great respecter of privacy. In the room there's the cleanest, whitest, fluffiest towels I'd ever seen, and a really comfy double (not kingsize) bed. Plenty of tea and coffee, plus hot chocolate and Ovaltine sachets and a great selection of biscuits and choccy biccies. The listing suggests that the family room contains a seating area and a dining table, when in fact these are in your own private sitting room across the hall, where your delicious and enormous breakfast is also served. This consisted of a great selection of cereals and fruit, followed by a simple but tasty cooked breakfast, all served on beautiful china and crockery. The dining/sitting room is full of antiques and objets d'arts, and is really cosy and welcoming, especially if Liz lights the fire! The house itself is well located, just a 10/15-minute stroll along the road into the town centre, with the Clyde on one side.

Helensburgh is a pretty town with plenty of good eating places and pubs. It has a very picturesque waterfront with ample seating. There is a large leisure centre with gym and a swimming pool or you can just sit in the cafe. There are public toilets on the pier. There are 3 well known supermarkets, but preferably use the local butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers. A regular bus service runs through the town, but there is also plenty of free street parking and a couple of good size carparks. Because of its location Helensburgh is a great for exploring further afield.

Helensburgh is a charming Victorian seaside town on the Firth of Clyde. It has excellent facilities for such a small place. If you don't have a car, everything you need is in the town. If you do have a car, it is a wonderful base for touring, with the beautiful hills and glens of the highlands on your doorstep.

We liked the wonderful warm welcome given by our hosts. It is a beautiful large Victoria villa with impressive gardens, our room was amazing, much bigger than we had anticipated and far exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean and the bed was warm and comfy, so nice nicely made up it was a shame to get in it! Lovely dining room where we were served a nicely cooked breakfast in the morning, and with excellent home made Crab Apple jam made by Lesley. If we ever visit the area again we would not hesitate to return 😄😄

Everything was lovely. The warm welcome and drinks in the conservatory on arrival were very much appreciated. The property had been well thought out, very clean with comfortable rooms and a beautiful garden. Anne and John were super hosts and gave great advice with regards the area and places to go. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We found a super local tapas bar for our evening meals with great food and friendly staff. Loved our stay.

The flat was faultless. It had everything you could possibly need for the stay and the host had also thoughtfully left towels, treats, bowls and blankets for the dog, as well as milk, butter, homemade cookies, coffee pods and even pastries. A lovely touch. There was loads of space and the bed was perfect especially for those with bad backs! It was a great base to visit the area. We would definitely recommend it and would book again.

I love history, so an opportunity to stay in a house like this is a rare treat. if you want boring-box hotel room then it's not for you. If you want character it absolutely fantastic. High ceilings, original features, stately feel in abundance. It's close enough to walk into Helensburgh, which has lots of amenities and some great places to eat out. Close to the shoreline for a nice stroll. Lovely quiet area. Very relaxing.

We came here to celebrate our 7th Wedding Anniversary. The view is so dreamy and spectacular, a beautiful Victorian style house conveniently located 2 mins away from the upper Helensburgh train station and just 10 mins walk from the seafront ( near Helensburgh Central station). The owners are also so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing and fresh. The reviews speak for itself. We will definitely come back :)

Ideally situated in the middle of town adjacent to car park & conveniently close to railway station. Staff extremely friendly & welcoming. Everyone we met went the extra mile to make our stay perfect. Comfortable stylish boutique-style bedroom with up-market accessories. Breakfast choices were extraordinarily good & cooked to perfection. Very dog friendly property with separate dog-free dining area too.

This was my first visit to the hotel. The staff welcomed me on arrival and were very freindly, helpful and accomodating throughout my stay. My room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. Continental breakfast had a variety of cereals and the selection of fresh fruit was extremely good. I have made a second booking to stay and I would highly recommend the County Hotel.
