    A lovely little town.

A lovely little town. Obviously you will most likely be going for the bookshops. There are also other interesting shops, and on one of the days we visited - Thursday - a market. Lovely countryside around too

Beautiful town. A must for all book lovers. Plenty of good quality eateries, providing a range of eating options. Local people are very friendly. We have visited three times in recent years and fully intend to visit again. We would never tire of this place.

Hay is great , there is always something to do here. Some lovely antique shops and vintage bizarres. Great coffee shops and restaurants. The Castle has been restored and is a beautiful gift to behold. We love walking along the river to The Warren and having a dip in the cold water. A little gem of a place.

Hay is a beautiful village with many historic buildings and interesting shops. There are many options for outdoor recreation in the area. One thing to note is that most shops close at 5 PM. My favorite meal was dinner at The Old Black Lion. Every meal I had in Hay was excellent. Please note if you are using the bus to get from the train station at Hereford to check the bus schedule yourself since Google Maps pulled from the wrong table. There is a lovely walking path along the River Wye with amazing views of the river.

    A wonderful place to visit!

A wonderful place to visit! Quirky shops, vast array of book & antique shops and a lovely market. Coffee shops we’ve visited have all been excellent. My husband and I regularly visit for a night or two. We dine at the Blue Boar and occasionally the Indian restaurant- both superb! Lovely walks, and a ambience of calmness & fresh air entices us back all seasons. My daughter and I have also camped nearby- that’s was fabulous too!

Owner/hosts were absolutely amazing. They were able to give you complete privacy and treat you like one of the family. It was an entirely unique and positive experience. The inn along with the breakfast/bar/dinner was exceptional (do not underestimate the dinners here!!). The location was in the heart of the village and was an easy walk from the bus stop. I truly cannot say enough good things about this stay and will 100% be going back here the next time I visit Hay-on-Wye!

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It is in a great location for Hay-onWye town centre, the book festival as well as great views over the countryside. We could see that the team there were working hard to make an enjoyable stay for their guests. Excellent dinner and breakfast menu selection. Very comfy rooms, full of character, but do remember to pay attention to the "Mind Your Head" signs!!

Beautiful location. Very central for Hay. Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Quirky C16th hotel. Pool. Lovely breakfast. Although hotel doesn't serve other meals, staff were incredibly helpful suggesting places to eat within easy reach and for a variety of budgets. There was even a friendly dog to greet you at breakfast time. Good parking too which can be tricky in Hay. Loved it.

Great location in the centre of Hay-on-Wye but in a quiet spot off the road. Some lovely walks down by the river, very close. Excellent breakfast and good choice. John and Sally were excellent hosts. Two very friendly dogs. Single room had plenty of space and there was a fridge which was much appreciated. All very clean and warm.

Friendly, helpful staff; excellent food (well-deserved gastro pub reputation) comfortable room; seemed well organised in terms covid safety. Hay is a great place to stay - the river Wye, the hills, the horse riding nearby, and of course the bookshops. The hotel was a very good base for two friends on a holiday.

We stayed for a weekend and liked the location best in the centre of Hay. It was a quirky ancient building and cool which was lovely in the summer heat and there was plenty of space in the bedroom and adjoining lounge, though the lighting there was poor. There was no breakfast only tea and coffee supplied.

The location is beautiful, with stunning views, the accommodation is superb and the hosts could not have been kinder or more accommodating. The breakfasts were outstanding and small luxuries (baskets of fruit, home made cakes) made our stay really special - all 7 days :-)

The house was very well designed, had lots of storage space and was really clean. All bedrooms had ensuite bathrooms, which was brilliant. The welcome hamper was...welcome. Location was perfect, right in the town. The electric charging point next to the house was a bonus.

Spacious room (deluxe), very comfy bed. Clean room. Location near centre of town was brilliant. We didn't have the breakfast or dinner so can't comment on the food but the dining areas did look inviting. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming.
