Set in Girvan and only 31 km from Ayr Racecourse, Maxwelston Farmhouse offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Bedroom was very well appointed - spaceous with a large, comfortable bed and nice linen. Gillan is a very personable and engaging host. Her breakfast (a surprise as the Booking.com details implied that there was no meal option) was tasty and much appreciated.

Girvan is a hidden gem. Gorgeous old buildings.

Girvan is a hidden gem. Gorgeous old buildings. Beautiful, clean beach and harbour. And genuinely friendly people. I had a great curry there too, at Jasmine’s. Art centre, community garden, great library, antique shops and brilliant accommodation at the Southfield Hotel. All easy walking. Surrounding hills and scenic views of Alisa Craig and Arran are stunning.

Great views across the sea to Ailsa Craig.

Great views across the sea to Ailsa Craig. Apart from that it's a dump! Noisy Fair across the road from our B&B. Rows of neglected terraced seafront houses and B&Bs. Gangs of noisy kids roaming. Numerous closed and derelict shops on the High Street. Would never go back again.

The beach was fantastic and clean.

The beach was fantastic and clean. The town centre was closed when we were there but plenty of shops to look around. Fantastic views all around from every road. From mountains to the beach and lots of old historic looking buildings. Lovely harbour to walk on and a you can catch the ferry to Ireland. We enjoyed our overnight stay there. Lovely fish and chips from the fish shop near the harbour. Lots of parking. Everything mentioned was all within walking distance of each other.

A lovely quiet cottage up a lane that houses a few other cottages. The cottage is a short walk from the beach and the town. Beach was clean and had a pleasant promenade. The town has some empty shops at present. The local people were very friendly.

It’s a lovely place for dog walkers or couples or lone travellers to go, for family’s it’s ok but you need to travel into girvan for a decent play park, they have a small kids soft play which will entertain young kids from age of 3-6 years as it wasn’t up to much! There is amusements for the older kids, a lovely harbour and decent enough park, there is also boat trips you can go on aswell! It’s a nice enough place but I’d say it would be more suited to couples rather than families with a few young children! There is a very small asda also and few shops to explore within the town! You also have turnberry lighthouse that you can visit and culzean castle, it’s £30 to walk the grounds of culzean castle without going into that actual castle it’s self!

Spacious, everything you will need, a bath which was great, modern but homely, quiet, lovely caravan. Easy contact with owner. Trips to Turnberry lighthouse were great, just ten mins away. Girvan is ten minutes away. Took trip to Robert Burns museum and cottage which was about 20 mins away. But the whole area is peaceful and great for a time away to just relax. Doing the dishes I could look out to the sea. Enjoyed our stay. We had good weather and sat out on decking drinking strawberry daiquiris. Perfect

Unfortunately the restaurant and bar have not yet reopened but we were able to enjoy a delicious meal via room service. There is a local shop selling chilled beer which resolved that problem too. The hotel is clean and very presentable inside and out. Our room was very nice in every way - comfortable bed, great shower, and good size of room. We had all the breakfast, milk and other foods we needed in the well stocked kitchinette.

Our first night in Scotland we checked into the Southfield. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The location was great to get to nearby takeaway and pub, or take a walk to the waterfront. We requested a cot and everything was set up when we arrived and the rooms were lovely and had private updated bathrooms. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and cooked fresh to order. I would definitely stay here again.

What a lovely, well-equipped home. Very comfortable and the super-king size bed was amazing . Cute courtyard garden for sitting in the sun or watching ovet the water. Or even trying a bit of fishing! Great hosts, very welcoming with lots of little extras like tea, coffee and biscuits. Would heartily recommend to all for a wee break in Girvan. Hope to return sometime. We loved it ❤

The location is amazing. The sea view is brilliant. The caravan is in quiet location with wonderful view. The public service was available to travel from Ayr to the caravan. And also from the caravan location to Girvan. The caravan was clean. Appliances like fridge, cooker, tv with Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube were available. Wifi was great. Overall a super experience.

Great location. Some facilities limited due to covid regulations and the time of year but clearly stated in the accommodation description. Beautiful rooms with comfortable beds and great views. Did not have a lot of interaction with the hotel staff again due to the covid regulations but the owners were very friendly and accomodating.

Tony the owner of the guest house was exceptional. He greeted us warmly after what was a very long and challenging day and in the end was a highlight of our trip. I would call again to the Girvan Guest house for the warm hospitality, the comfy beds and great breakfast. Ample on street parking. Very quiet rooms. Shower was powerful.

Clear check-in instruction was given beforehand when the hotel knew that we will check in very late at night. Baby cot was put up and clean, and the room was spacious with a full kitchen facility (great when you're travelling with a baby.) Staff was very friendly and helpful, it was a pity that we didn't get to stay longer.

Beautiful cottage, spotless, comfy beds, everything you need inside and lovely wee garden to sit in outside. Sue the host was lovely, she brought the keys and gave info on what was round about. So close to the beach for our old dog. Loved the cottage and Girvan.

What an amazing place to stay, I only wish it was for longer. An excellent breakfast, one of the best I've had while being away, served in the room and accompanied by a beautiful sea view. Can't recommend highly enough and excellent value for money.
