Sunnyside House, hotel in Gardenstown

Situated in Gardenstown and only 49 km from Huntly Castle, Sunnyside House features accommodation with lake views, free WiFi and free private parking.

I stayed here with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Sitting at the dining table in the kitchen was a pleasure with outstanding views of the coastline. The beds are very comfortable. The living room with the open fire was excellent, it might have been a good idea to supply something to cut the logs, but still a great experience trying to light a fire. Overall the break was a great experience, with hosts obviously making a tremendous effort to make your stay, pleasurable. The property is on a bend and on quite a steep hill, so it will give you an opportunity to improve your parking skills. The accommodation has excellent heating controls on each radiator that can be increased or lowered with your fingertips.

The Knowes Hotel & Restaurant, hotel in Gardenstown

Located in Macduff, The Knowes Hotel & Restaurant boasts a bar. Featuring room service, this property also provides guests with a restaurant. All rooms in the hotel are equipped with a coffee machine....

Couldn't fault- from the first step over the threshold, staff were welcoming and friendly, without being too "in your face". Beautiful bedroom - such a comfy bed - and even if no sea view from the bedroom, the views at dinner and breakfast were amazing. Food was lovely - cooked with the best of ingredients and served with care - but I'd already hgh expectations there as I've eaten at the Knowes before.

The room was lovely and the view of the sea from the window a bonus. The breakfast had something for everyone, was generous in size and well cooked. Also having an excellent Restaurant, the Davron Hotel has everything you would need. We highly recommend.

The views are spectacular and the people very friendly, everyone speaks to you. The hotel food was excellent and staff very friendly. Lots of seating areas down by the harbour. Unless staying in the hotel or down by the harbour, the area is very hilly so walking not for everyone.

A friendly village with lots of character, locals enjoy a friendly blether, didn't manage to eat out on account of our dog but the addition of the wee grocers shop has helped the village a lot. Driving, especially along the Seatown end of the village may seem a bit hairy for the more nervous drivers.

This place is so picturesque! The locals that we did see were so friendly, the kids loved watching the birds and sea life from the apartment and of course watching the boats! Banff is only a 17 minute drive along the road so still close enough to amenities if needed

It was a lovely place to visit and as it was winter it was not too busy. I would imagine in summer there could be a lot more day and staying visitors which may impact on limited parking facilities in the village. There are car parks either end but street parking for the village in the main could get busy. Elis cafe in New Ground is a delight, fish and chips van on Thursday afternoons, local shops with supplies and antiques with lovely people to help. Being Christmas some closures over that weekend but some opening hours too.

This is a beautiful old fishing village, Eli’s coffee, cake and crafts is a must for a visit, husband had a sandwich and it was spot on, cake was lovely as well. The wee shoppe has everything as well and it is not an overpriced convenience shop. If you are in any doubt and have questions about the area I would suggest joining i love gardenstown on Facebook. The hotel in the town has a small bar for non residents again lovely owners. Ladies a visit to the loo is a must!! Best I’ve ever been in!
