I liked the common areas, the room and the breakfast. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. The "City View" in my original room turned out to be scaffolding on a building site. A member of staff checked rooms personally and I was given a room with a view of the Cathedral. While the area around the hotel has much to offer, the hotel itself is not directly available to taxis. While the taxi stand is not far it would be difficult for those with much luggag or mobility issues. Booking.com should emphasize this.

Sam and Jo couldn't have been more welcoming to their lovely home. We had a very relaxed stay at Weeke Barton where the facilities were superb. The house is very rustic with low ceilings and with spacious comfortable rooms. The bed was huge and the bathroom modern and clean. The 'honesty' bar was a nice touch and there was a relaxing fire to sit in front of every night. Sam had a wealth of knowledge about the local area and was always willing to share. Breakfast was lovely with good choices on the menu. We would be happy to return in the future. Thanks again to Sam and Jo for making us feel welcome.

Set around the Exe River, affluent Exeter has played a part in English history from the Roman era to William the Conqueror to the Spanish Armada. Its most impressive structure is the cathedral, begun in the 11th century and boasting the longest stone roof in England.
The surrounding green is a popular picnic spot, and the half-timbered buildings and red-brick façades of the neighbouring High Street house a host of shops. Even more are in the Princesshay and Guildhall shopping centres.
The Guildhall itself is considered England’s oldest municipal building still in use, while nearby Parliament Street is one of the world’s narrowest streets. The remains of 11th-century St Nicholas Priory are now a museum, and there are more red-stone ruins at hilltop Exeter Castle (or Rougemont Castle), built into the Roman walls.
Exeter Central Station is behind the castle, while St Davids Station is nearer the university. The large student population means that the city has good nightlife, and some bars are located by the Quayside, site of Custom House. The river flows past Topsham and Powderham Castle to enter the sea at Exmouth.
To the east are Exeter Airport and the Westpoint Arena exhibition centre, both easily reached from Booking.com’s hotels with spas, cheap apartments and guest houses with parking.

We used to look forward to spending weekends in exeter, shopping and dining but unfortunately it’s on the decline now.
It still has some nice restaurants but quite a few of the shops are closed now and generally has a tatty feel to it.
The worst part of exeter now is all the druggies and drunks all around the city, very intimidating, loud and causing no end of problems, we saw 2 incidents just whilst walking up the high street - police had to be called for one of the more serious attacks.
Exeter definitely needs a clean up and a clear out!

The visit to Exeter was great and relaxing.
The visit to Exeter was great and relaxing.
We stayed at Pembroke House Apartments which is located just behind the cathedral, so location was great but they are very very slow at returning your deposit of £100 which you have to pay prior to arrival… sadly still waiting at 2.5 weeks later.
Would love to stay at Exeter again but not at Pembroke House Apartments.
Shame as the location was good but sadly they are not good at paying your deposit money back.

Exeter is a lovely sized city, the combination of the Quay the Cathedral and the shopping center makes for a great weekend. There are so many pubs and eateries you are spoiled for choice and everything is within easy walking distance so no taxis were needed. We went to see a band at the Cavern on a Sunday evening. I would really recommend the venue which was so intimate and had an incredible atmosphere and lovely staff. The city center felt buzzy even on a Sunday Night and really safe to walk back to the Hotel after closing time. We love to visit and will be back soon. The Turks Head Pub was also great with a cute little rooftop bar and fantastic IPA's and its own micro brewery , this is our new local when we are in town !! Again really nice staff and although we did not eat there the food looked great.

Do not go to Exeter if you are disabled.
Do not go to Exeter if you are disabled. It's not a car friendly city and facilities for disabled drivers are virtually non existent. When I did eventually find a disabled space in the closest car park to my hotel, the lifts were not working and I had to get up a set of stairs and then walk some 500m to the hotel. Driving for the first time in Exeter is a nightmare. So many complicated road restrictions that all conflict with satnav guidance. I'm expecting a number of traffic violations to arrive on my doorstep from just 48 hours in this awful place :(
The staff team were exceptional. Warm, welcoming and helpful from arrival to departure. Location was central to town centre and local attractions and transport facilities. Breakfast was superb and catered for all dietary needs, including vegan and gluten free. Hotel was clean, well equipped and comfortable. An excellent venue for our short break and would definitely stay again and would highly recommend to visitors to Exeter.
Good location for city centre with parking opposite, really friendly staff.
Room compact but comfortable with a nice shower, loo and sink.
Nice busy buzz in the bar with a band playing when we returned in the evening.
Our room was above the drum kit so we joined in the fun!!
Nice full English breakfast in the morning.
So easy to find off motorway, ideal with parking/park and ride option into city centre on doorstep! Friendly staff, room was spacious, clean and had all facilities needed to make it an enjoyable stay! Perfect for visiting uni student/viewing uni or just exploring Exeter!
