A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Enjoyed the Castle tour even though very busy. Loved the Palace tour and all the history. The Sandeman free walking tour was exceptional and learned about local stories and history. The people are warm and friendly and food and beer was great!

I love that it is a walkable city.
I love that it is a walkable city. It is so quaint with beautiful scenery. A medieval city with a modern twist. So much to do and see. You can walk everywhere. We took the tram, the train to Glasgow, and a tour of the Western Highlands. I would encourage visitors to explore Leith, Stockbridge and Dean Village. All of them are quite different and it gets you away from lots of tourists on the Royal Mile and Old Town.

Edinburgh is a vibrant city with so many food options.
Edinburgh is a vibrant city with so many food options. The only downside to Edinburgh is the tourists :) There are so many places to visit from the Castle to the Scott Monument. You can walk the Royal Mile but there are also taxis and Ubers. Hubby and I did a night walking tour of Edinburgh where we were taken to an underground cavern and a stroll through the cemetery. If you're looking for somewhere nice to grab a drink and a meal, try The Alchemist in St James Quarter, great food, interesting drinks and walking distance to all the landmarks. My only complaint is that most of the hotels in the UK do not have air conditioning. It's not always cold in the UK, and their buildings are built for the cold but not the heat, which is where air conditioning would come in handy.

Edinburgh was really good.
Edinburgh was really good. Would love to go back and just hang around for awhile again. The buildings and city centre are generally pretty cool, with a bunch of historic sites and places scattered around to see. The city can also be used as a base to go elsewhere. I did a bus tour from there which went over to Glencoe and Fort William, among a few others places.
Within the city there's a bunch of sites to see. There's Edinburgh Castle, Scot Monument, a few galleries and museums, lots of old buildings, the Royal Mile, Holyrood Park and a stack more. My time was limited, there's more I haven't done (yet?!).
I walked everywhere. Some places are a little hilly, but walking should be manageable for most people. The city does have trams and buses as well, so public transport options are also available.
I think almost everyone enjoys Scotland to some degree. It is expensive to stay, but there may be some cheaper options for the budget minded if you're willing to make some comfort sacrifices. Otherwise, it will probably be on the more expensive side of things.

Favourite city to visit.
Favourite city to visit. It's small enough to walk around and there's always something fun to do. Great food at every price point and more coffee shops than you can imagine. The people are very friendly and it's always a good time!
The hotel is located in a quiet area but with plenty of pubs and restaurants. It is conveniently near a station on Edinburgh's wonderful cross city tram line. Access from the airport and into the city centre was cheap and easy. Leith has a lot of attractions for visitors like Edinburgh. I liked the option to not have the room serviced every day of our stay - in exchange for free drinks at the bar as an acknowledgement! The hotel wifi was fast and free. The hotel is housed in an interesting historic building.
Served a purpose as a comfortable base whilst I visited Edinburgh solely for a concert. I wouldn't stay here for a city break, as it's too far removed from Edinburgh city centre, but a comfortable hotel all the same. One major positive I will point out was the quality of service from the staff. After returning from a late finishing concert in the rain, the staff had taken the initiative to provide pizza and tea, as no where else locally was open. A really nice touch!
Hotel was amazing first time staying in Edinburgh and it didn’t disappoint. The room was lovely and the bathroom was spotless. Walked into the city centre both days and it wasn’t that far from all the attractions. Staff at the hotel were lovely as well and the place smelled amazing. Would definitely stay again.
Very nice breakfast and lovely, attentive staff . The room was quiet and warm with a spacious bathroom. The hotel is quite a way out of the city centre, but the local transport links are excellent and very straightforward. It is also within walking distance from Edinburgh Zoo.
Individual boutique hotel in an interesting historic building with lots of traditional features- felt like you were in Edinburgh. The suite was really big and comfy with a fab roll top bath. Great location as tucked away in a quiet street but a short walk to the city centre.
