Very convenient location right by the train station. Into Carstairs village is only 3 minutes on the bus. It was a quiet and peaceful stay, and a close walk to get groceries.

We all loved staying at this apartment. The kitchen is equipped well enough for a short stay property , the beds are comfy and there are direct trains to Edin and Glasgow. Definitely recommend it and would stay again!

Staff fantastic, could not do enough for you, but the landlady (she made Mrs Cresswell, the Villa Bella, “Only Fools and Horses Jolly Boys Outing Christmas Special” look tame), it was not funny.
It was obvious the staff were very scarred of her, could not believe how she treated my wife. That’s another story.

Property was large and mix between modern and traditional. Wooden floors and open stone work was nice.

3 adults, 5 nights, 1 and a half rolls of toilet paper. 5 nights, 2 pieces of foil in the oven. 5 nights, no napkins or paper towels. For what we paid, there probably should have been a few more things. The only few parking spots were not available due to city work, not the owners fault, but we still had to park a bit further than the elderly ladies needed to walk.

Carnwarth is a gateway to other things.
Carnwarth is a gateway to other things. Apart from a cracking golf course, it doesn’t offer much. But it’s location between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Lanark make it a convenient location to set up base camp. I came during lockdown, so I was glad the property gave so much, as anything else would’ve made it a forgettable trip. But this cottage is so easy to just chill and relax in.

Really could do with a facelift.
Really could do with a facelift. The town itself is run down and dirty. It is however a good base to tour the surrounding areas like the Polish Map in Eddleston, Peebles and Penicuik, Bigger and Edinburgh. A lot cheaper to stay in hotel here than in Edinburgh! Keep that in mind folks for the Edinburgh Festival in August.
i was greeted with a warm welcome from Ray (Hotel Owner) who booked me in and escorted me to the room, the first impression was the cleanliness of the room , bathroom these where spotless. I had an evening meal which i thoroughly enjoy there is also a good selection of beers. The breakfast is piping hot, they take your order as you book in for the breakfast which is a good idea and the service was excellent from Jen and her team.
A single traveller I stayed in small spotless room with with a single bed, tea coffee facilities
A compact en-suite had an excellent high pressure shower
Dinner :haggis starter and a steak main was good
A good Breakfast at 7:30 preordered the evening before was served promptly
This hotel does everything well and I would definitely stay again
Congrats Robertson Arms staff
The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had .... generous and very well cooked. Dinner was also very good. The staff were very well trained, attentive and friendly .... and the exterior of the hotel was really pretty. The room was quite small but adequate and had everything, and more, to make our stay very comfortable. Overall, the hotel is highly recommended.
We were looked after exceptionally well. Nothing was a problem. The hotel, everywhere, was spotless. The food was stunning, prepared and presented to a very high standard. The staff were friendly, organised, courteous and interesting and interested. Can not recommend highly enough!
Staff were very friendly and flexible. We were on a cycling tour and got a bit wet, so were asked if we wanted to dry our clothes in the hotel tumble dryer, needless to say we did! Restaurant served an excellent evening meal. Good breakfast too.
The evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely cosy hotel and room and bathroom were fresh and clean, Beds very comfortable.
Everything, it was an amazing find, a really great small hotel. Helpful, friendly staff, great food and immaculately clean; oh, and a very comfortable bed.
