The Red Lion, hotel in Cardigan

The Red Lion is situated in Cardigan, 200 metres from Cardigan Castle and 18 km from Newcastle Emlyn Castle. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV. You will find a kettle in the room.

Whilst hotel was somewhat 'rustic', it was exactly as I was expecting for a country pub. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and room was perfectly adequate for my needs. I asked for dinner recommendations and was very pleased with the suggested Italian restaurant on the High Street as it was excellent. Accommodation may not suit everybody, but it was perfect for me and I would stay again now that I am aware of exactly what you receive and what you don't.

Cardigan Castle disappointing, not much to see, may be of more interest to somebody wanting historical facts. To me a waste of time and money. Castle virtually non existent. Cardigan is a town that time has forgotten! For that it is pleasantly quaint. Nice cafes. Probably better on a fine day!

Quite a quaint town during the day but at night it does come alive especially the pubs. A really lovely range of shops and food places. A visit to the castle is a must. The best places are often the ones reccomended by locals. 2 days just wasn't enough for me, as just a little further out was glorious bays, beaches and mountains but more spectacular was the waterfalls

Beautiful area to stay despite the mixed weather.

Beautiful area to stay despite the mixed weather. Went for a few walks on the coastal pathways which had breathtaking views. Cardigan was 10 minutes away by car. Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Crwst. This is a must for anyone visiting the area. Great pasta lunch at Berlotti's. A fairly good variety of shops in Cardigan. We also visited Theatre Mwldan during our stay to watch the latest Poirot film.

Beautiful accommodation in a lovely home and rooms just outside of Cardigan. Wonderful fresh cut up fruit is served with your breakfast. Hostess was lovely and very accommodating. We needed an earlier breakfast in order to catch the Poppit Rocket bus to hike a stretch of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The approximate mile long road approaching the lodging is a typical narrow country lane (with turnouts) that can be a little nerve wracking for those not accustomed to narrow roads. This establishment is well worth the drive down to it.

No one can dispute this hotel has some of the best views and enjoying breakfast, dinner or just drinks overlooking the magical Cardigan bay is probably worth tens times what the hotel actually costs for a night's stay. I am a returning once local resident and this view is awe inspiring. An indulgent breakfast is a highlight as well as an hour in the spa - gratis. Can't recommend the hotel highly enough.

This is an individual style of property, literally a stone's throw away from the town centre and with easy access to public parking nearby (also limited property owned parking). It has a great historical feel whilst being equipped to a very high standard. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the garden area and our own boutique style private seating area.

Superb location, close to so many towns, villages and beaches. Had a lovely stay. The Cottage is on the site of the beautiful Penrallt Country House Hotel in Aberporth which is a lovely setting. Short drive to Cardigan, which is what we wanted; places to eat... PizzaTipi, The Copper Pot, El Salsa, Stiwdio 3 Cafe for breakfast. Try 'A Bay to Remember' for boat trips

The location is superb for town, yet was very quiet, even in the garden. The garden is lovely and has adequate privacy (great for yoga!). The cottage is very comfortable, relaxing and tastefully furnished. There was thorough information about the house, appliances, services and local area provided by the host in 2 well stocked files. Would definitely rebook.

We arrived around 8 pm and were still able to check in before the cut off time. Free parking for our car (although the parking area is tiny...I read there is a secondary lot in case the first one is full). Fully equipped kitchen. Our room was bare bones but clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was also very clean. Nice hot water shower. Great price!

Hotel was in a great location, a short walk from Cardigan high street. We are happy to walk quite a while, so not only did we take a walk to Mnwt Beach )a couple of hours) we also walked to a restaurant in St Dogmaels (took about 40 mins). It was easy to get everywhere from the guest house. host was very friendly as well.

Due to covid restrictions it is very difficult to give a reasonable opinion of the hotel. We missed the evening meal and it is a VERY quiet little village. Breakfast was fine as were the rooms. I've no reason not to go again when circumstances are better.
