I thought I had booked room and breakfast and was surprised when I was told I hadn't. The room rate seems high for a 3* hotel. Nevertheless, the breakfast at £15 each was plentiful. We didn't dine in. The menu wasn't readily available and I had to ask for a menu, which was printed off for me. It seems most people go in for the carvery. The hotel seems to cater for coach parties doing tours of Scotland.

The hiking in this area is unbelievable and the right to roam means you have access to so much land.
There are a lot of single track roads but these are in very good condition with mostly excellent views of the road ahead.
There are a number of small lochs around the area which are great places to fish and walk.

Really well stocked kitchen despite the size - perfect for self catering needs (even managed a full roast dinner). Views from the bedrooms better than the island observatory - spotted our first golden eagle here.

Calbost is a lovely private little village with a beautiful beach and loch and plenty of walking. Eagles regularly fly overhead.
You really need a car to take you to places and you won’t be disappointed. The beaches are amazing. The local villages have lovely character and the sightseeing attractions like Calanish Stones and Butt of Lewis are spectacular.
