Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.
Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.
As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.
Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.
This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.
Bristol is a vibrant city with some great things to do...
Bristol is a vibrant city with some great things to do particularly if you're short of time, e.g. a weekend. Recommend Clifton suspension bridge view point and the circular walk around the Waterfront and the docks to the SS Great Britain, visiting the M Shed. The Arnolfini is an excellent gallery to visit if you like more contemporary art.
It's easy to get around using the water taxis and bus services. And taxis are numerous and not expensive.
We ate in Clifton at The Albion, Poco up in Stokes Croft and another spot near the Christmas Steps (another place to see) called 808 for brunch. The great thing about food in Bristol is that there's something for everyone and V, Veg, GT, etc. are all catered for as standard.
There's nothing to avoid in Bristol that you wouldn't have in any other city in Britain or abroad. This time I saw very few beggars and homeless people. Just keep your wits about you in certain areas at night and on your own in the numerous parks.
Vibrant and diverse. Markets, street art. And lots of students!

Walkable city. Great mix of sights, from the old docks to the castle to the Cabot shopping centre to the cathedral and university. A great city walk is up through Clifton and across the Avon suspension bridge

We visited the SS Great Britain and did a riverside/wooded walk to the Clifton Suspension Bridge both were great. The observatory and cave at the Clifton bridge were a bit disappointing but we also enjoyed the Cathedral. The various brew/tap houses around the city are definitely worth visiting, the beers, food, service and atmosphere were very good in all the ones we went to.

Nice to revisit our home City.
Nice to revisit our home City. Lots of variety and things to see. However, Bristol is a sprawling City, so bring your walking shoes as public transport is patchy and taxis are like gold dust. Favourite places are The Docks, Clifton, Park Street, Bristol Museum, The Downs and you simply have to bungee jump off the suspension bridge!

The mix of architecture was cool and I will return to soak up more of the galleries, live shows etc.
The hotel is in a great location right across from Cabot Circus in Bristol City Centre. The hotel feels modern and the staff were very welcoming. Even though the hotel was busy, it was easy to sleep and there were no late night/early morning disturbances which led to a great nights sleep.
The Arnos Manor Hotel is a conveniently located Hotel, which is close to my work and also Bristol city centre. It has free parking for residents, which you will struggle to find in city centre hotels.
It’s spotlessly clean.
Really friendly, helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Hotel is in a good location, about 15-20 minutes walk to the city centre. Was only there for one night but will happily book again if I ever revisit Bristol.
