Glassford House, hotel in Blanefield

Offering a garden and garden view, Glassford House is set in Glasgow, 8.6 km from Mugdock Country Park and 11 km from Glasgow Botanic Gardens.

We were blown away by the whole experience at Glassford House. From entering the drive on arrival, the grounds were incredible and the view of the house took our breath away. On arrival, we were greeted by Lillia, who showed us to our accommodation, which was situated in an annexe at the rear of the property. However, walking through the door, the whole experience just left us open mouthed. There was a spacious lounge with a shared kitchen. The facilities provided were outstanding, everything we could possibly need, washing machine, oven and hob, coffee machine, fridge-freezer, stocked with orange juice, milk, bread, jam & marmalade for breakfast. Three different cereals were available on the kitchen counter along with bananas. In the cupboards there was a large selection of teas and instant and ground coffee. The crockery, glasses and other items were all of top quality and everything we could possibly need was provided. However, the icing on the cake was the huge bedroom and en-suite bathroom (with underfloor heating). A walk in wardrobe was also provided, The view from the two large bedroom windows was stunning, looking onto the extensive grounds at the rear of property. A rear fire escape door door opens from the bathroom onto the grounds, as well as the door at the front of the property. On waking on Sunday morning, we could see a young fawn grazing under the trees and we also saw several rabbits in the grounds. Absolutely idyllic stay. Thank you.

Calming and scenic, transport needed to amenities. Lots of pleasant walks and stunning scenery. Central location to many attractions, the Devils pulpit is stunning and a must see, approximately 2 miles from Blanefield. I would recommend going early, much quieter and more tranquil.

Liked that I could sit in the lounge area with a cuppa as I was camping. So cosy, felt right at home. My camping stove broke so they let me fill my flask with hot water so I could have a cuppa in my tent. Booked for two nights but stayed four nights, and I could put my tent anywhere so I chose a secluded spot in the woodland, was bliss even with the rain.

The hotel looked lovely being small and full of character.

The hotel looked lovely being small and full of character. Nice retreat and the staff are so helpful. The area is lovely and peaceful. This is no campsite though and tents added to create extra revenue. In conclusion is it a hotel or campsite!!! As one effects the other. Beautiful setting in a beautiful area.

Beautiful location, lovely house and very comfortable family room. Extremely dog friendly (owners dogs were frequently present and very friendly too). Dinner adequate but expensive for what it was and breakfast was fine but no cereals on offer; fruit, pastries and yoghurts available though. Didn’t expect to pay for hot drinks which would normally be provided in the room. We felt this was disappointing and surely could have been included in the price. Take a flask of tea with you!
