It's a town that is very focused on outdoor sporting activities. In Summer, there are great walks directly from the town - well signposted. The landscapes are stunning with woods, mountains and lochs. There are fishing opportunities (I'm not an angler) that seem popular. Lots of opportunities to watch birds of prey. Haven't been there in Winter so can't comment on Winter sports but the town is clearly geared up to support a variety of winter activities. Lots of shops in town selling sports clothing and equipment. Also good transport links. I didn't use a car this trip - easily got to the Highland Wildlife Park, for example, on the bus.

Planned out accommodation- bathroom and cloakroom seem very new and clean. Forgot to mention there a couple of bikes for use by guests although we didn’t use ourselves..
The hosts seem to have thought of everything.

Amazing place in summer.
Amazing place in summer. Clouds, mountain, green surroundings and local restaurants, everything is exceptional. Small city so a short 1-2 days stay is sufficient. Tesco and Aldi are nearby railway station. Easy train access from Galsgow.

Really tidy and comfortable beds.
Really tidy and comfortable beds. The location was perfect, walking distance from the centre and the walking and cycling pathway.
The only bad thing was the water was warm for only a few minutes causing the rest of the family to wait for the boiler to reheat but it was still cold even after that

It was far bigger than I was expecting. Very well serviced by local buses to surrounding towns and villages. We travelled everywhere by bus. Lots of places to eat in the evening. Local people always ready and willing to help with travel advice.

I liked the central location of the Highland hotel and the activities for the children. The Winking Owl Aviemore is by far the best place to eat. It has such a huge choice of dishes at reasonable prices and great choices for celiacs and vegans. The staff at the Winking owl are lovely and there is a great atmosphere.
The hotel is a old 'modernised' Inn in the Victorian times and that twee charm has been retained. The room although a single had everything in it that I needed. Lovely ensuite bathroom looks very new. The breakfast was really good, quality ingredients cooked very well (steady on, on the bacon though :)) It's a lovely, quiet setting overlooking the loch Albie? Very friendly, attentive staff. The owner was very accommodating very late booking/check in so I was grateful for that. I hope to return on my visits to Aviemore!
This was a good place to explore the nearby area, which was what we wanted. Even though the bathrooms or one bedroom are on the smaller side, they were perfectly functional and we enjoyed our stay there. It was pleasant to sit in the living room in the evening or on the little terrace after lunch when the sun finally came out. I cooked our meals and the kitchen was equipped with everything I needed. It was a great place for the three nights we had in Aviemore.
We were in the lodges this time and decor is very very tired. Big, clean lodge but just needs modernised (thread bare carpets isn’t appropriate for a £300 per night rate)!! Now been to Highlands & Aviemore hotels and still enjoy Aviemore as a location. Glad the swimming temperature is better in summer as very cold when we usually visit in January. Breakfast lovely and resort entertainment crew excellent, especially Rory!! What a hoot.
The breakfast was really excellent (you need to select your choices and time the day before) and the staff very friendly. The location is great for exploring the Cairngorms. It is a short drive away from of Aviemore town center, so you don't get the crowds and traffic, but close enough to pick up things you need. There is plenty of parking and a lake right near by. The restaurant serves a nice variety of dishes.
The room was a good size with reasonable amenities. Has a restaurant and bar in the hotel and room was acceptable. The staff are clearly motivated to provide a good service. The food tasted good both for dinner and breakfast. Rooms were cleaned well and clearly they work hard to do this.
Great facilities for kids. Play barn, crazy golf, swimming, arcades. Great location for the ski centre & Aviemore town centre
Clean & nice bar areas with log burner. There was even unexpected entertainment on our arrival evening
Room was comfortable and clean. Great value for money hotel
The hotel was spotless and the bed/ pillows were so comfortable. The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of Aviemore close to a variety of activities. The food is amazing as was the breakfast and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning
The apartment is new, absolutely spotless, and very well equipped. It is also in an excellent location. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend High Range Lodge Hotel to anyone looking for lovely clean and comfortable accommodation in Aviemore.
We loved our hosts, so accommodating and helpful. The home-cooked breakfast was perfect. The shared kitchen facility had everything needed to host our own meals. The pod was laid out well and the bed was the most comfortable bed of all our hotel stays in Scotland (5).
The fifth time I've stayed here and it was as good as always. The lodges are well stocked with everything you'd need including shampoo and shower gel. It's an easy walk into Aviemore for food and supplies, and the restaurant attached does lovely takeaway food.
Great location for outdoor recreation. We hiked to Ben Macnui and Loch Avon one day. Hotel was just up road from restaurants and other retail. Very friendly staff and flexible with our requests, even as they were fully booked.
Onsite activities great for kids, nice location, Aviemore offers all the services for a short break.
If you decide to dine out with hotel, best to pre book as restaurants fill up fast.
My kids loved everything about Aviemore. The hotel.. the swimming pool..the breakfast 😋 the activities..the staff..the lil shops around town..ice cream shop..sweetie shop..
Great staff, Great food Great Location. Warm and friendly, I recommend this hotel for all year long , as a Holiday place in ScotLand. Aviemore is very near Inverness
I was many, many times in Aviemore and always stay in hotels, and that was a mistake! Perfect place for holiday ! You can find even board games and lego for kids 😉
