What an amazing little Scottish gem this is. A beautiful country house nestled in the most glorious gardens and decorated to such a high standard throughout that the owners should be rightly very proud of.
When booking Accommodation, if you have pets, one of the requirements is that it is ‘dog friendly’ There is a huge difference between being dog ‘tolerant’ and dog ‘friendly’ ….. the Balcary House falls into the latter spades ! This certainly ticks that box in all areas and our dogs were made hugely welcome with rooms specifically assigned as dog friendly….. There was even an enclosed paddock to allow the dogs a good run as well … something not always available
Fabulous residents areas with a well stocked bar and wonderful owners who are happy to chat. Breakfast was superb and I thoroughly recommend the porridge😋 . The lodges that are specifically designed to enable dogs to stay with you are spacious, beautifully decorated with a tasteful design everything was spotless clean.
Thank you so much for making our trip across the borders so pleasant we will certainly be back

Nice greeting and very helpful staff. The room was large, comfortable, pleasantly decorated and clean. The public rooms were well presented. Just managed to get a parking space. The grounds were useful for exercising my dogs. The TV was easy to use. I was a able to have a cold breakfast at 7.30am.

Buffet breakfast a total disaster. Plates cold and cooked items less than warm. The only think hot was the egg cooked to order .
Room was fantastic.

I liked the location. The room looked tired. No tissues or bottled water. Noisy. The door rattled every time someone else opened or closed their door. The bed wasn't very comfortable.
Built in 1857, this guest house started life as a Royal Bank of Scotland building.

Everything fine detail was considered at the hotel. It was exceptionally clean and tidy and great value for money.
The breakfast was a very generous portion and the staff were very kind and polite.
